Hi everyone,

I thought you all might be interested in an interview that I did with Nicole Sachs, LCSW, author of The Meaning of Truth. She told her story just the way that she used to tell it on Dr. Sarno’s Alumni Panels, but in greater depth because we had more time. Her story is inspiring and powerful and while it took forever to wrangle the video, I thought that her personality and enthusiasm about TMS really came across.

Check it out at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIlADyoGeqw

Enjoy!

OMG!! That made me so happy to hear. Those panels were such an important time in my life, and I'm so glad my story affected you! All the best to you and your beautiful babies!

Nicole,

After viewing the video I realized that I saw and heard you on Dr Sarno's panels! I remember you and your story really struck me especially the part about not being able to have children. At the time my husband and I wanted to start our family and I was in so much pain I could not imagine being pregnant.

I am proud to say that I carried 2 (pretty large) babies to term! My 2nd was very emotionally stressful and I had a lot of pain due to TMS, but my first was a piece of cake. Thankfully I am back on my TMS recovery plan, but I just think it is such a small world, that I remember you so vividly from 6-7 years ago, and here you are again.

Thanks for sharing your story. It is not easy to do.

Nicole and Forest,

I just watched the interview and it was wonderful. So powerful.

Thanks to the both of you for your strength, your resilience and your determination to change the way we think about chronic pain. It is inspiring.

Well done!

Just watched this interview and thanks Forest for doing this and making it available. Loved hearing Nicole tell a little of what it was like to interact with Dr. Sarno. Really liked the image/idea of holding the psychological issue out away from your body and examining it. I'm going to try that. Are there other such Sarno nuggets of wisdom in your book, Nicole?

I wish I could come back to this forum more often, but work and kids have stolen all of my time lately. Sincere apologies. Many heartfelt thanks to everyone who is showing the love for my interview. This is a labor of love for me, and has always been. Thanks again to Forest for including me. Please, just keep the faith and keep it up. TMS is very real and VERY debilitating, but also very possible to control if you believe.

Much love.

Forest, thanks for putting this together.
Nicole, thanks for the candid interview and for sharing.

I especially liked the part about layers - when TMS came back after you thought you were past it already - and that you had to go to a deeper layer of where the anger/rage was coming from. I was initially shocked about what you hated. But, that shock helped me bring forth something (a deeper layer) I hadn't journaled about or even been conscious of but which was definitely rage within me.

Therefore, I liked your journal speak comments as well. I don't know that I want to post what I hate or have rage about just yet on a forum like this. But, I did definitely journal it. I don't know if I'll do anything with it (like share it), but for now I'm content with just re-reading what I wrote and ensuring I fully acknowledge that I feel it.

Thank you again!

*May we garner the same confidence*

Thank you, Gail!

I know it's so hard, and journaling doesn't do it ALONE, I agree. Have you checked out the book? I'm hard not to sound like a shameless promo but it says in 200 pages so much more than I could ever say here!

I wish you all the patience and kindness you can garner for yourself. Much love,

Nicole

That was amazing--so inspiring! I really did not think I had time to watch the whole thing but I couldn't turn it off. It also brought up so many questions for me. For example, I have been journaling but I found that that alone did not help--I also had to change my life to calm my nervous system down.

Also, sometimes when I am journaling I have the opposite problem--I feel like I am straining to uncover some hidden, dark truth that ends up sounding false to me.

But definitely the whole "This pain is different" sounded absolutely true. That is definitely what happened to me this time. This pain was different, and didn't seem like TMS, and really caused much more pain and stress and fear than anything before.

Thank you Sylvia! It was so good to speak again about my story - the days of the panel were so rich with a feeling of community, and shared caring and helping others. I know how it feels to be so exhausted, and hopeful and desperate to feel better.

Oops, by the way, I forgot to say that if you like the video and want other people to see it, please give it a thumbs up! Also, if you'd like YouTube to show you other videos like that when you visit, you may want to consider subscribing to the channel as well. That will offer a lot of encouragement to the producer, too.

It is a good thing to be happy over the success and achievements of others, especially when they use what they have learned to help other people.
