Dear all,

There will be times, on your path towards recovery, that you will feel that you are making great progress, are filled with lots of hope and, with your mind's eye, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

There will be other times, however, in which you will feel discouraged and think that you are making no progress at all. In fact, you will feel that you are getting worse. It is during these times that patience has to be exercised so as not to fall into despair. It is important, as Ace says in key #18, "not to ever think of yourself as wronged or a victim," as "this only leads down the path of negative thinking, conflict and pain." Stay the course even when it seems you are not making any progress. As Ace also says in key #23, "Everything to your best should be done with peace, calmness, forgiveness and ease (WITHOUT STRAIN or WITH FUNCTIONAL RELAXATION," and in key #24 he writes, "Try to think of the big picture when applying these techniques and when trying to achieve relaxation. Most people with symptoms are too detail oriented and are intense in that regard. They also try to apply this detail orientation and intensity to their symptoms, to trying to get rid of them and to what is causing them. When one looks to see if they are emotionally uncomfortable or strained, it is better to look at it from a general/big picture sense than focusing and trying to find some tiny little detail. Then it is helpful to try to achieve ease in the big picture as well. Part of your cure is to stop thinking in this intense manner and to now be more laid back and think of the big picture."

Be easy on yourself, and be patient as healing takes time. Yes, there will be setbacks, even Sarno noted this, but if you remain consistent in your daily practice of what it takes to achieve healing, you will succeed. And always remember, as Ace says in key #27, "This has to be undertaken as a major project for it to work, with consistent all day practice. Also the time needed for recovery must be given no matter how long it takes."

In closing, reflect upon the words of Ekhart Tolle from his book "A New Earth," where he writes:

"Form means limitation. We are here not only to experience limitation, but also to grow in consciousness by going beyond limitation. Some limitations can be overcome on an external level. There may be other limitations in your life that you have to learn to live with. They can only be overcome internally. Everyone will encounter them sooner or later. Those limitations either keep you trapped in egoic reaction, which means intense unhappiness, or you rise above them internally by uncompromising surrender to what is. That is what they are here to teach. The surrendered state of consciousness opens up the vertical dimension in your life, the dimension of depth. Something will then come forth from that dimension into this world, something of infinite value that otherwise would have remained unmanifested. Some people who surrendered to severe limitation become healers or spiritual teachers. Others work selflessly to lessen human suffering or bring some creative gift into this world."

Regards,

Shawn

Hi BC,

See a TMS doc for a dx. They are listed in my sig. below. Do you have one in your vicinity? If not it would be worth it to travel to see one or do a phone consult with one.

Curl up with a TMS book, read it over and over until it sinks in.

Get at least thirty minutes of exercise a day to give you the bodily strength to deal with what your mind is doing to you, walk, swim, bike, whatever you are capable of.

Go over to my "TRUTHS From Nicole..." thread and post there, hopefully she will be checking in and will give you some personal attention.

If it's TMS, and the percentages are good that it is, we can help you get on the right track, but only you will ultimately be the one to bring yourself out of this.

G'luck!

Hi again,

I had a long post written and then I lost it all. Everything for a reason. Please take a look at this thread: http://www.tmshelp.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6743

Remember that anger and resentment, and a host of other negative emotions, can have an adverse impact on one's physical health. These feeling come from our thoughts which we never seek to question but just take them at face value. The Law of Attraction says like attracts like. If you live a life filled with anger, resentment and tension you will feel the effects of this in your body as you attract ill health into your life. The good news is that this is totally reversible but it takes time.

I hope this helps a bit.

Hi Barbara

Sorry to hear of your pains and feelings of despair. You stated in your message that your symptoms leave you debilitated and the pain is worse when you get angry or upset at all. It would be helpful to quiet your mind in order to avert your anger, and I feel mindfulness practices are quite helpful in achieving this. Ask yourself why you get angry and I can guarantee it will be in some response to a thought in your mind, and these thoughts cause you to suffer more than is necessary. I invite you to listen to these video clips of Ekhart Tolle at the following link: http://tmshelp.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8097

I will write more later as I have to run..........

Hi I am in that place where I feel despair ... My symptoms leave me debilitated and the pain is worse when I get angry or upset at all.

I then have all the fears tumble in at once.

How can I stop or deal with this?

Barbara

Hi Shawn I am very proud of your achievements. If you go back and read your posts just 3 months ago, they were so different. Remember key number 7 this is a very important one. You will see that you will feel despair when your in situations you are not deconditioned to and you will be so tempted to think its physical and to challenge it or do something about it. Don't do it and remember this key #7. Act the opposite, say your directed affirmation to that situation and smile because you know that you are now changing your future response to this situation and in a matter of time, it will get better and better. You have to do it this way to win and you will win if you are the calmness in the storm. Find your strain and don't go with it (mostly being in a rush).
