Posted - 03/02/2013 : 10:23:51 Forms of physical treatment are seen as placebo's in TMS/MBS and only give temporary relief at the most.
My question comes from the idea that we have been developing all kinds of treatments over thousands of years. A lot of those treatments are relatively successful in curing/relieving certain physical discomforts (temporarily if TMS/MBS). Why was there never developed a treatment that can cure the struggling mind that is at the base of those physical discomforts?? (besides religion :) )
I came to do this because I ran into the sniffed at art of applied kinesiology. As far as I understand now, it is nothing more than convincing the patient with tricks that the discomfort is gone and by letting the patient out their emotions by kickstarting it with a method I do not fully understand yet. I heard some stories of people who were treated that they have been painfree ever since. Someone I know was in complete pain from stress, the AK did the usual trick (see youtube) and pinched her somewhere that got her crying like a baby for two minutes, she walked out completely pain free and is painfree till this very day. Understanding the method however is pretty much an insurance that a visit to an AK will be fruitless... I think that AK works in cases of repressed emotions, but it will not stop someone from repressing emotions in the future. Another person I know visits the AK every 1-2 years. The AK did a search with her if there are any unsolved emotions from the past, which could help indeed with MBS in mind, but I know she is feeding her repressed emotions all the time because of the situation she is in today.
This is just an example of a treatment that leans towards being a cure for certain cases of TMS/MBS that are cause by repressed emotions from the past, but not for TMS/MBS coming from repressing emotions in the present. Are there other methods, maybe even better ones...?? I doubt there is one that stops you from repressing emotions for good, but maybe I am dead wrong here.
please discuss :) |

Posted - 03/02/2013 : 15:13:51 gigalos, no I did not do that exercise. I think it depends. When they do muscle testing to find the best "homeopathic remedy" it is bunk. It is simply the bias of the practitioner. For emotions, I was skeptical but I was subsequently able to confirm a lot of what was found as absolutely true. It is a fact that all your emotions are stored. The person I worked with is a Stanford PhD that took an interest in the topic. I also volunteered with her colleague at Stanford a few years ago on a fMRI study of the brain and the effect of thoughts/relaxation on chronic pain.
PS: Do you have a link to the youtube video? |

Alix, did you also do a balance exercise where he/she is trying to pull you out of balance; at first you fall, after they have done their thing with you you don't? This thing is always pointed at to show that AK is boloney, because it is a simple trick to let you believe that you got better (so they say). Maybe it is what you just explained, but I am a little confused by the video I saw that totally dismissed AK. |

Posted - 03/02/2013 : 13:22:37 The practitioner asks you yes or no types of questions. If the affirmation is true you will react differently then if it is false. You can then quickly narrow in on the emotion: Were your parents involved y/n. siblings y/n, age 0-4 y/n etc... The belief is that it is your subconscious responding. Your subconscious has stored every emotion since you were born.
You can test it on yourself in a different way but same principle. Stand and say: My name is <your-real-name> Then say: My name is <not-your-real-name> Observe yourself. You will tend to very slightly lean forward when the affirmation is true and lean back when it is false.
It is like the lie detector.

Posted - 03/02/2013 : 13:05:36 I am not sure we are talking about the same thing. There is AK to find what the "best" remedies, diet etc... are and that is bunk IMO. I have done AK (well, it was NET in this case but same idea) to find repressed emotions using muscle testing. It definitely found them and it was absolutely accurate. It didn't make me pain free however but it showed me pretty clearly how childhood trauma translates to maladaptive responses in my day to day life. So yes, I understand better why and when I strain today. I recognize those situations clearly and that allowed me to work on that. |

Posted - 03/02/2013 : 12:45:03 If you think it really released them, then it did. If you think acupuncture meridians exist and that sticking fine needles into them improves your chi, then it does. If you think putting the right homeopathic pellet under the tongue aligns your energetic fields, or detoxifies you, then that's what happens. I've been to countless alternative practitioners, many considered top in their field, and not one thing they told me would happen ever happened. Probably because I didn't expect it to. But whatever. |

Posted - 03/02/2013 : 12:15:48 I guess what you are saying is that the "making the patient cry like a baby" is letting the patient think they just let go of repressed emotions while they have actually not...??

Posted - 03/02/2013 : 11:06:07 I dont believe for a minute that applied kinesiology can cure anyone of anything except via placebo effect, including repressed emotions. Been there done that too many times. This is not to deny the power of the placebo effectif it works for you awesome. |
