Not sure, I would have tried arthroscopic if the recovery time was not so long, I don't want to take 12 weeks off tennis. Older folks like me are not candidates for arthroscopic hip since they have "advanced arthritis". I would go for something like that, after-all I go to the dentist for fillings and root canals. And Dr. Sarno says surgery is our best placebo. I'll wait for the docs to continue "practicing" and I will also. I'm gonna' need more proof that it's structural and not TMS before I lay-off that long.

So Tom, in your opinion is this TMS or a legitimate injury that does require surgical intervention?

Let's hope they didn't make the decision based on MRI, because....

Get 2nd, 3rd and 4th opinions Lady Gaga.

You have the money. It's worth your time.

I was thinking the same thing. She has been pushing at an inhuman pace, feels totally exhausted, feels terrible guilt in "letting her fans down"....

I think her body is giving her a clear message.

Thanks BAlto, I'll anxiously observe her outcome to see how she does, I like LG. Being a diva is not as easy as it's cracked up to be. She's had some falls on stage and hits on the head for triggers.

Too bad the Good Doctor's recently retired, she could have easily seen him since she's in NYC. If it's possibly TMS, maybe Howard Stern could do an intervention.

If's she's got TMS though, Dr. Sarno says: "Surgery is our BEST placebo."

Thanks, Dr. James. I am going to order it. I have one autoimmune disorder, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.
Dr James Alexander Posted - 02/14/2013 : 03:33:27
Canadian physician, Gabor Mate, wrote an excellent book on auto-immune conditions, taking into account psychological factors- 'When the body says no'- well worth the read.

Lupus and RA are both autoimmune disorders, so I think we can say those are TMS.

Yes there are injuries and not everything is TMS.

The Pope, good for him, hopefully he is not ill, but one would of thought he would of retired after Easter, so possibly it is an illness, but hopefully he can spend some time in that secret Vatican library.

Gaga has been diagnosed with synovitis. Synovitis is the medical term for inflammation of the synovial membrane. This membrane lines joints which possess cavities, known as synovial joints. The condition is usually painful, particularly when the joint is moved. The joint usually swells due to synovial fluid collection. I got this on wikipedia:

Synovitis may occur in association with arthritis as well as lupus, gout, and other conditions. Synovitis is more commonly found in rheumatoid arthritis than in other forms of arthritis, and can thus serve as a distinguishing factor, although it can be present to a lesser degree in osteoarthritis. Long term occurrence of synovitis can result in degeneration of the joint.

In the past Gaga has been found to be 'borderline positive' for lupus. Also, in the past, she has complained of heart palpitations. She is quite obsessive over taking care of herself.

Couple of days back, the Pope resigned saying the following statement.

"Strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me," said Benedict, 85, according to the Vatican.

Can we say he too has TMS?

I've always wondered whether Julie Andrews' loss of her singing voice was TMS.
