Posted - 09/28/2012 : 21:33:06 Hi guys, I'm a previous sufferer from TMS on my upper back. Long story short I injured my rhomboid a year ago and had pain for 8 months (including healing time, so definitely long time of chronic pain). Read Sarno's book and it all made sense b/c I was in 1st year of college, couldn't work out and was stressed about life and school, so my already injured back was probably the perfect target. Pain went away 3 weeks after the book ( about 9 months after injury. However, about a week before school started up again I was doing a light workout and it felt like my back tweaked out and had pain for 2 weeks. That went away, but now its back 2 weeks later. Only problem is that I also got a shoulder injury 3 months ago that was been repetitively sprained (long story) and can't workout. I'm trying to tell myself that its probably stress about school and not being able to workout that is causing the pain, but it won't go away. What are your guys' thoughts? Thanks! |

Posted - 09/28/2012 : 22:57:09 hi nucci glad to hear from ya-good to hear you have already had success in the past with the upper back issue-i too love to workout and its stress if i cant -so have you laid off the workouts long enough for your shoulder to heal from maybe a small tear like about two weeks-it sounds like its been three months-i had shoulder problems for about 20 yrs so i know a thing or two about this area-i got to about 400 on the flat bench and boom !pain ! drs said rotater cuff tear-so i babed my shoulder since -like no over head lifts-although i did them every day at work-easy on the bench press and so forth-heres the point if you have given it about 2 weeks or up to six to heal -this means no workouts-and it still hurts then its probably tms-(remember sarno said the biggest bone in the body ,the femur bone heals in six weeks) -when i read sarnos book and steveos book i immeditatly resumed all my workouts for my pecs and delts that i had previously stopped and guess what -you know-i was healed of this 20 yr rotater cuff problem almost instant(condition loop)-i had in my mind according to conventional drs that i would never be able to use my delts in those ways again and wala im healed -now if you healed before after reading sarnos book have you read steveos book and if not you should-youll be getting some great advice on here .....go back and re-read sarnos book again too....what was the main thing that gave you that uh huh moment when you healed-now of course the long story will probly have to be told -maybe not-this forum is full of good people that want to help you-hang in there ,,,,it is repressed rage-stress-not living in the now, having peace, imaging, visulization and so much more....heres what i did...i told my shoulder to stop hurting and it did...thats the way it healed-at times almost never now it trys to creep back after a heavy bench day -and i tell it to stop and it does-now were all different and you have to keep an open mind and believe with all your heart and never stop-like i said-youll have heroes come and talk to you on this forum-i hope this helps some what....god bless (you do need x rays )it helps the veterans more...you really do need more advice i assume there is real injurys and you have to rule that out...just lay off the weights till your for sure-steveo-ace1-balto-tennis tom -mala -and so many more will be of great help if you read there post and make sure to read post relating to your situation-im no tms dr but like i said there are wise people and drs here so stay off the weights -keep the peace-listen -heal and resume......this is most definatly the back problem ....still have to get those x rays to rule out tumors |
