Posted - 02/24/2005 : 17:57:47 I've always been an "obsessive" person (my OCD symptoms began around 6th grade, although perfectionism started much earlier--I'd have to say kindergarten) and one of my obsessions for the past few years have been my skin, i.e., constantly looking at it, inspecting it, looking for each and every particular blemish. In the past, this was quite debilitating as I was afraid to go out in public fearing that I looked like I had copius amounts of pimples, when in fact, I was told a handful of times that I had incredible, perfect skin--amazing huh?
The obsession has subsided a bit, and I no longer as self-conscious about my visage; but I do still have these thoughts. Now my skin of course is perfectly fine and I take good care of it, but I find myself thinking about it a lot. And even if I were to label it as OCD, it's still a distraction; so I guess what I'm saying is should I try and look at it--the part (skin obsession) and its whole (OCD)--as part of TMS? That its purpose is merely to take my mind off the emotional issues?

Posted - 02/25/2005 : 04:51:17 Sure sounds like a tms equiv-low self esteem and or somehow the idea was planted in your unconscious brain at a very young age.Tell your unconscious brain it dos not matter if you have blemishes all over your skin or not,you are still you and it does not matter. It also does not matter what other people think! Now you have to sell that to your brain. We value you for what you are,not for how you appear,You could have three heads and it would not matter(especially on the forum).Tell your brain that it's too freaking bad if you don't like it,as you love Seth for what you are!Definately a diversion. good Luck to You.
