Posted - 08/01/2012 : 09:08:30 Hello everyone. In the past, around 2002 I had repetive stress injury or carpal tunnel syndrome which made it almost impossible to use the computer from lack of being able to use the mouse. I was lucky to have read John Sarno healing back pain and got a full recovery quickly. Never thought I would be able to play computer games again. I was in pretty bad shape. SO without a doubt I am prone to TMS problems.
Anyway, recently I noticed that my ring finger on my right hand hurts. Not sure what started this but I think I may have over used my right hand by stripping lots of wire for copper. When I over used my right hand it seemed that all my fingers hurt and would hurt especially when waking up. But it mostly went away except for this one finger.
What is wierd about this problem is that the knuckle seems to be sore and if I tap it against a hard surface it hurts, while the other knuckles do not hurt if I tap them. The knuckle looks fine and I never did anything that I know would have hurt this knuckle. The knuckle I am talking about is in the middle of the finger.
I also notice that when playing computer games for hours my right hand hurts and this ring finger on my right hand hurts even more. If I put my hand in cold water my hand and knuckles feel completly normal for a short time afterwards.
I find it interesting that it is not my wrist hurting anymore like in 2002, but my ring finger and somewhat the middle of my palm. I thought it was the way I was holding the mouse with my thumb and ring finger, and I switched to a new mouse but that did not help. This is exactly what I was doing in 2002 before reading john sarno's book. I should know better I guess then trying different mouses etc.
Do you think this iS TMS? What makes me wonder if it is TMS is will TMS make my knuckle sore and make it hurt more when tapping it against something? I did not think TMS could do that and it has been like this for months now.
Please let me know what you think and if I should work through the pain here as it is TMS.
Also, if it is TMS, should I use cold water to reduce the pain or would that go against a full recovery?

I had really bad RSI and hand pain for a long time, and similar stuff happens to me all the time. A while back a noticed some pain in my pinkey finger. There was absolutely no reason for pain to be there, and guess what. As soon as I stopped worrying about it and told myself it was TMS, it went away.
TMS will create symptoms that we think are real. You already know that you RSI pain is just TMS, so it can't create wrist pain again. Your unconscious has to develop a new symptom, that you think is a physical problem, to distract you from you emotions.
