Hi All,

I just learned about TMS 2 weeks ago and am doing a lot of reading and recovering. I have been slowly unwindind from years of body tension! Does anyone know of resources for healing TMS that are in the Seattle area (theripists, doctors, etc).

Much Peace and Healing,

Livvy

Wow...15 years! It's been about 12 for me...I came across the TMS stuff right at the beginning of May and I'm doing better each day. I looked at that DVD site before...didn't occur to me that I might be able to get it at a library...perhaps I should consider looking around. I haven't spent much time on tmswiki.org, though I have done some reading there...most my "TMS time" is spent here.

I have been dabbling with meditation and the one thing that seems to help me the most right now is something called "bliss coded sounds" or something like that. I'm amazed at how quickly that seems to help me get into at least somewhat of a meditative state. I've listened to it through my headphones on youtube. (just search for bliss coded sound on youtube). I never have gotten that kind of quick response with binaural beats or any other things I've listened to. The guy that created that is on to something. I want to buy all of his mp3s...but I'm not prepared to spend that much on that just yet (it's around $85 for his full set of 4.5 hours of sound). I was listening to one of the youtube samples today that's 15 minutes long...unfortunately my data connection on my phone wasn't great and it cut off about 2.5 minutes before it was supposed to end...that was also quite an experience...I snapped out of it too quick and it felt...well...disorienting! lol

Glad to hear you are doing well! Yes, TMS is a journey for sure

Here is the link for the DVD, I got it through Interlibrary Loan at my school. It is great to see Sarno in action doing his lecture!

I have ordered SteveO's book and am looking forward to checking it out! I have read, Healing Back Pain: The Mind Body Connection, and some of The Mindbody Prescription. I also read a lot of posts, and I really like:

I have really gotten into meditating recently. I have read and talked to a lot of people over the years about it. A couple of years ago a friend told me about the idea of sitting for 10 minutes with a timer. That is doable for just starting out. Meditating takes a lot of self-discipline. I just learned about TMS like 2 weeks ago and have struggled with back pain for 15 years. So, I am really happy to find others to chat with and lots of supportive literature to read!

Peace and Healing,

Livvy ~

Aside from being very sore (the good kind...muscle soreness from a good game of racquetball yesterday), I'm doing really well. TMS recovery has been quite a journey for me. I've learned a lot about myself in the last couple of months.

You say you're reading everything about TMS...have you read "The Great Pain Deception" by Steven Ray Ozanich (SteveO here on the forum)? It's an excellent read. If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend it.

Which books have you read so far? Which DVD? Are you experienced with meditating or is it a new concept to you? Meditation is new to me so I kinda struggle with it.

Thanks Dustin,

How are you? I hope you are feeling great!!! I guess Seattle is out of the loop with regards to TMS resources. I will have to be the pioneer : ) I am reading everything about TMS, as well as watching the DVD to let the teachings sink into my brain! Meditating (1 hour per day, 20 in the morning and the rest at night) and more. I am really into self-care!

Best,

Livvy

You might check www.tmswiki.org and click on the "Find A TMS Doctor or Therapist" or whatever that link says. Look for your area on there. That said, if you're talking about Seattle, WA (I don't know if there are other Seattles...)it looks like there's a Dr. Mark Strom MD who practices in Seattle (if that list correct...it's a moving target, you know).

Welcome to the boards and I'm glad you're making progress already! Some of us have taken a bit longer lol. Congratz!
