Anyone here ever dealt with perceived weakness? Muscles feel weak but actually aren't. I get it in my legs, arms, and mouth. It comes and goes and is very irritating. It has plagued me for 9 plus months.

Timmbell,
I think we are all into the weakness. I also. It must be part of TMS. I also like the advice of others who know and that tell us to get on with life and believe. Believe that this is all in the mind and it's like "The Wizard of Oz" when the good witch tells Dorothy that all she has to do is close her eyes and believe. I guess we're all like Dorothy and just have to believe. Me too. Thanks for bringing the weakness up.

I also get this perceived weakness feeling in my face, legs and arms, it's amazing how we focus so much on each and every symptom and notice the most subtle feeling. I was feeling a pull sensation in my left eye a few months ago, comin and going. Then it went for the weakness in the body parts. We are simply over sensitized to our bodies and this is half the battle!

Loving myself heals my life. I nourish my mind, body and soul
My body heals quickly and easily

It's a process. Be patient. But it might help to realize that "believe" is rather loaded term that can cause all sorts of problems.

I don't want to confuse you, but of more direct importance in my opinion is to simply stop worrying about these symptoms. 999 times out of a thousand, they'll quickly evaporate. You're creating this feeling of weakness by constantly thinking about it, and monitoring your body for signs of it.

Art, i believe you are right. Perceived weakness for me comes and goes and moves around, which sounds like the symptom imperative. The trick is to believe. I spoke with Dr Sopher on email recently. Gave me some great advice. Said that you have to believe in TMS to get the symptoms to stop. I'm not there yet, but do recognize the patterns.

Think mind/body. Perceived weakness in the absence of actual weakness seems the very essence of psychosomatic illness. Forget about it and it will go away.
