Posted - 06/06/2012 : 05:32:16 Hi All
I've developed really bad rosacea over the last 6 months. I've been stressed 24 hours a day and have got myself in a real mess. I've always been paranoid about my looks and I'm pretty vain.
I had a comment a year ago about my sun damage on my skin which set it off and found out it's rosacea. I had a few treatments which worked well but since then my face has gone into full flare up with broken cappillaries all across my cheeks and within two months my forehead. It looks really bad and I want to get rid of it.
-I'm obsessed by it -There is no cure and only gets worse as you get older (this is the clincher) -I get a panic attack when I see the damage on my face, I've started to not look in mirrors and dim the lights when I need to shave
I've had the full run of TMS but this permanent disfiguring incurable thing has really got to me. This is the worst of the nuclear TMS's that my brain constantly requires.
I found a lady who used sarno type therapy to heal terrible rosacea but can't see how changing my emotions and life can heal broken cappillaries like she had (she is selling a book) however the photos and what she says compell me to think she tells the truth.
All I hear is Rosacea is for life and only gets worse. Gutted.

Posted - 06/07/2012 : 14:52:23 I always thought loosing hair is genetic, but Ace1, a physician member on this board here said it is stress or tms. I hope he is right. I just want my hair to either grow back a full head or all of them fall out. It look funny now that I'm stuck in the middle. It don't fall out and it don't grow back. :) |

Posted - 06/07/2012 : 07:46:12 I've used to hate loosing my hair and very worry about going bald. I always thought it is genetic since one of my brother and my dad is going bald too. Then I saw that my brother and my dad don't look bad being bald, I even think my dad look kind of more respectful and handsome going bald, so I slowly lost my fear of loosing my hair and even looking forward to be completely bald one day too.
That was years ago, now my hair refused to fall off. When I started to "don't give a sh_t" anymore, it stop falling? Amazing brain isn't it? |

Posted - 06/07/2012 : 03:31:48 Thank guys for your replies. Today I didn't look in the mirror and got on with my day and it has gone down. Im very vain and know that I've lost my looks with ageing.
Bill Clinton does well he plows through the ladies.
I'm really coming to the end of my fight with TMS to continue with this my heart will stop beating. I have to leave the terrifying comfort of these distractions. |

Posted - 06/06/2012 : 12:30:15 I'm also coming around to the belief that the mind can cause all sorts of havoc, including swelling and inflammation. i'm just getting over a bout of bursitis in my elbow of all things. There was so much fluid in the skin around the elbow it looked like I had a tennis ball under there. The supposed cause? Leaning on my elbows all the time. Hard to buy that something so innocuous could cause this. IN any case, I paid it little credence and it's almost gone now...
I can tell you this for sure WOdg, the more you panic and worry, the worse it's probably going to get. This leads me to something I was talking about in a recent post. The endless internal debate over whether something's TMS or not, and the sense that if it is real then it's somehow catastrophic in its implications, is not helpful. Millions of people have or have had rosacea, and live perfectly wonderful lives. Your real llness is not the rosacea, it;'s your reaction to it...
Calm down, be accepting, love yourself for who you are. That's the route to be following. A nice side benefit is it you do this, there's a good chance the rosacea will go away..
edit: Just to add, I don't mean to minimize your emotional pain. I'm also a vain person, at least I was back in my younger, more handsome days. But time has a way of putting us all in our place. There was a woman with rosacea in my old health club (not sure of your gender) and she was a knock out either way. I think Bill Clinton has it as well. Surely didn't hurt him any with the gals... |

Posted - 06/06/2012 : 09:41:18 I second tennis tom's statement. SteveO mentioned having rosacea in his book and it's one of the many symptoms he has been relieved of through TMS recovery.
Consider this - if the brain can control the autonomic nervous system to RESTRICT blood flow and cause oxygen deprivation to create pain, why is it any harder to accept that the brain could cause the autonomic nervous system to INCREASE blood flow to weaker capilaries causing them to rupture? If your brain is trying to divert attention using this method that it knows works (because you're obssessed by it and have panic attacks when you are forced to pay attention to it), then why would it not continue to do so (as it does with oxygen deprivation and pain)? I can't speak for the physiology of rosacea, but capillaries heal. Veins heal. If they didn't, every bruise you ever experienced would have become deadly endless hemmoraging.
If you can convince your brain that you can't be distracted by the rosacea, it's likely it will stop using it as a distraction. That's the fundamental basis of TMS...if you can be distracted from your inner rage by some kind of physical attribute, it won't give it up. It's not that focusing on the emotions and life can heal the capillaries...it's that doing so can allow them to heal and not re-rupture.

Posted - 06/06/2012 : 07:47:19 I just read in SteveO's book that he had rosacea and it was TMS, it was around page 50, sounds like he cured it and it wasn't permanent.
G'luck
