I have been reading this book and it is fascinating. It has made me realize a lot of deep rooted issues i believe i have. My question is about Id. I understand how the Id is resentful and angry about certain things. If you understand or think you know what the issue is, do you try and appease the Id or defeat the Id? I know it sounds ridiculous but i don't understand how to proceed. I guess you can't rationalize with the Id.

The way I see it and has worked for me is I defeat the id by acknowledging it and letting it know that I now know what it is and has been doing to me. I think about all the emotional psychological things that it doesn't want me to by trying to distract me with physical symptoms. I learned to embrace the emotions that I know are there and why they are there and even ones that I think are probably there.

That's a good question and I should have an answer having just finished reading SteveO's chapter on Id/Ego/Superego, around page 30-40 of his book. So, your question is appease or defeat? Since it's your inner-child, age womb to five, my guess is you'd have to deal with it as you would a being of that age; bribe it with candy but carry a big stick. I don't really know, I've never had children and vaguely recall being that age myself--but I slept at a Holiday Inn Express once and have had cats and a few gf's.
