Hello people, as you know I'm a tmser that cannot find the cure with the practice of thinking psychologically etc, but I think and getting convinced that I'm the worst case here in this forum .
Lately I've been thinking more and more that my pain is caused by the tms but haven't do anything about it, I have not thought about emotions, only began to see that this is a ridiculous pain and its manifestations, as the book makes more logical to me now than before (mindbody prescription) maybe because I'm reading the version in Spanish and understand much more what I read? but the pain has increased greatly, i have had the last couple of days terrible headaches, horrible pain in lower back, buttocks and electric shocks in the back of the thighs. and last week my doctor told me I had a virus, oral herpes to be exact,he prescribed me a antiviral medicine that is horrible, so i stopped taking it today,my question is:Now that i see and have more knowledge that this is a stupid pain, ridiculous and absurd my mind is giving me all these pains?
There would be a great idea to have a forum in other languages ,beause in my case reading the book in spanish has helped me to understand the TMS theory in a much ,better way! yeah i am mad at myself for not being a full english speaker..

And i am also very angry with it(my mind)for giving me such hard time.

I can't speak for the side effects other than knowing that antibiotics can wreak havoc on your gut health. I would recommend ensuring you are getting healthy dietary doses of beneficial bacteria in your diet and/ or in supplements (such as yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, etc). I'd also recommend making sure you're getting plenty of fluids and focus your attention on your emotions :)

It might be worthwhile to do some web research on what things promote good gut health. There is evidence that poor gut health can lead to issues with the mind and emotions. I tend to think that the mind-body connection and good gut health should go hand-in-hand. It's one thing to deal with your emotions...it's another to make sure you properly fuel your body and mind, after all, a gasoline engine cannot run on sugar water...and sugar water can destroy an engine.

I hope you start feeling better soon!

Yeah, the first appointment or two usually seem to go slower because of the get-to-know-you stuff. I would recommended making a go of it a couple more times to see if you will like it. I went to counselling for a while for depression, and I didn't really feel like it was going anywhere for the first couple of appointments, but it got better.

The energy thing, was it reiki? I've heard of that but don't know much about it.

Hi Dustin,
It was okk,i went there with my husband,he entered with me (to help with translation and since this pain has impacted our sex lives together),it was more papaer work,a lot of questions ,and an explanation of how she might help me with the pain.
I personally still don't know if i liked it or not,my husband says she seems very professional and i should give it a try. What i didn't like is that she is hollistic too,so she treats patients with psychoterapy, hynotherapy and some energy healing that i forgot its name, plus the 100 cats she has in the house and the smell of them!
But,i was very clear to her ,in what i want, and thinking about last night i tought why not? insurance pays her i will give it a try ,so next week i have another appoinment.
And that was it,my pain has been lower the last two days,i haven't had time to read ,or do my "work" with tms,i will try to do some today.

Have a great day,and thank you for asking me,it looks like you are a wonderful human being.

In regards to your question...I can't say for sure, but its not uncommon to hear the words "I had to grow up too fast"... It would stand to reason, to me, that victims of traumatic abuse could develop TMS pretty early on if they were forced to turn their rage inward and suppress it.

I think I stumbled across another post you had on a TMS wiki last night...name was Lara2 and sounded very much like your story. If that's you, I had another thought. It sounds like your mind...your dual mind...is frantically searching for two things...and they conflict with each other. It seems like a part of you desperately wants someone to tell you that you're suffering from TMS and that you will get better. And I don't blame you...I think we all want that. It seems that there is another side of you that is seeking a response that you're different because your circumstances are different or because your pain is different...almost like a subconscious excuse to hold on to the pain.

I may be way off base, here, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but I just thought I'd mention it to see if you notice that within yourself. I believe I am guilty of it to a degree as well. But, if we want to heal, we have to stop embracing our pain (and by focusing on it and making it important, we embrace it) and start embracing healing...embracing our emotions. Stop thinking about how bad you hurt or how horrible it would be if you never stopped hurting and start thinking about how great you can be and what it would mean to be pain free! You ask "why my butt?" because it's a good distraction that works! You've made it important and so your brain has made an excellent distraction using it.

Stop focusing on the physical pain and start trying to resolve the emotional pain. If you're scared, good! That means you're on to something. If you can't go it alone, get help (I know you've discussed therapy). You CAN beat this and you CAN get your life back.

Dustin,
Ok i will go to see the therapist this afternoon ,i really didn't want to ,but my emotional state is getting to painful.
About that post at wikipedia i tried to get in touch with that member,(you know ,got excited that someone has the same symptoms as me and similar story as well)but she cancelled her account there .Well yeah the story is similar ,except that my husband hasn't cheated on me,as long as i know lol...
Yo voy a vencer este dolor, porque el no me representa,y yo no lo represento a el.

There are people here with pelvic pain including genital pain. I am one of them, and I know how frustrating this condition is. Originally when first reading Sarno I got better as I was releived, then as it did not disappear doubt and worry creeples back in and so does the pain, so yes it is difficult and it is a battle with your own mind.
The wisest pelvic pain specialist I have seen in the last 4 years (and I have seen many) told me with a smile "Just be happy and you'll be fine". He was right, only it is so hard to be happy when you lose hope, but that's the key to this.

But people with genital pain have gone over it, just do a search (top right corner of this page) for "vulvodynia" "vestibulitis" or "pudendal neuralgia" and you'll see.
I do beleive that other conditions such as IC, prostitis, piriformis syndrome etc are just the same, only the muscles in the pelvis that are tensed differ. For genital pain I beleive the perineal muscles and perineal nerves are the ones targetted. It does not make any difference, they're tensed because you are tensed and worried about it!

Agnes

Yeah ,i found myself a lot of times tightening my muscles down there,i can feel the tense there,or mentally focusing in that part of my body.
Where is your pain? you know what makes me even more confused? that i have read some small kids complaining with genital pain and ending up with PN/PNE ,how come a child would have tms being so young?
but who knoes maybe they are in fact having tms .
Thanks for responding to me,that helps me a lot.

Hi again, Lara.

There's something you should try to remember from the book. Sarno recommends that you don't try to address each pain as a symptom. You SHOULD make sure there's nothing serious going on if you experience new symptoms that could indicate something serious. Otherwise, try not to focus on the types of symptoms and focus on the source...your emotions. As others have said, it can be encouraging to know others experience the same thing, but try not to lose heart if you don't find that here. Take a stand and tell your brain "¡No voy a tolerar las mentiras!" because that's what they are... Lies.

Just because you experience different symptoms, doesn't mean that you're worse off...it just means your brain is trying to throw you off...and by your own admission, it's working.

You can do this! ¡SÍ, se puede!

Además, yo hablo español un poco, pero yo sé también como traducir con google muy bien!

Dustin,
You put a smile on my face jaja, yeah google translate is useful ,but sometimes uses wods from mars!
I always ask myself ,why my butt? why not a hand,or an elbow? but trust pain down there is so frustrating and miserable,i feel like a have a dragon there sometimes with his mouth open ,and also like someone is putting some nails in my rectum ,or perinium but using a hammer!this pain hurts everywhere,it has stolen my figure,my sex life,my social life(cannot sit),i can't believe that a year ago i was running 6 or 7 miles 5 dayas a week, wearing size 2,laughing most of the time, working and having a great sex life.
But i am going to continue with this TMS path, this time something rang the bell on me.
Yo vengo de un pais muy pobre,de luchar contra las peores calamidades,y se que esta vez tambien vencere esto!

Thank you Darko, but my pain is driving me crazy these past three weeks, and this week since i read the book and started thinking my inner rage has gotten out of chart!i have kept thinking psychologically ,but i am aware that i haven't fully accepted the TMS,maybe because here in this forum there's no one else with pain in genitals ,coccyx, sacrum etc and i don't recieve feedback or support like a person with back pain does..
I want to be cured,i really do.I want to enjoy life again.
I feel so emotional lately that i hardly manage little things at the house.

BUT, in that 3 months, I since stopped taking Pristiq and I am in the process of weening off of Ultram. My sciatica only flairs up occasionally, no more tennis elbow or shoulder pain and no more late night pee pee trips for me .

At times I get very angry that my hip/pelvis pain hasn't gotten better, the pain is terrible and I still take Percoset for the breakthrough pain. For me, I still have to deal with my shame, guilt and rage. I'm impatient but very hopeful.

Buenas suerte!

Thanks Craig,i am actaully going to see a psychologist for the first time in my life tomorrow,i hope she can help me .
My first goal is weanning off gabanpentin. My main problem here is that the kind of pain i have is so rare that just a couple of foristas" post in here about pelvic pain,(or genital pain)and that makes me so sad.
