...they diagnose things.

Does anybody know who this quote can actually be attributed to?

Racingspoon,

I don't know who quoted it, but here is my quote:
“Don’t go to the doctors, they MIS-diagnose things”.

As in my appendix that my doctor missed. Result; It burst the next day at work. Oh what horror, being carted off in a blood wagon with all the bells and whistles, emergency surgery and five days in hospital. Apparently a simple blood test and maybe some prodding would have revealed all. He was an arrogant sort always trying to sell me religion, I have moved since. I guess I’m still bitter, but mostly wary of the word “doctor”.

I read Bob Geldof's autobiograghy and his sister was diagnosed with Leukaemia. This was in the 60's if I remember correctly. The Doctors did not even tell her she had the illness and that she only had 3 months to live. She survived. Now that's old fashioned medicine.

Congratulations on totally missing the point of the quote.

As an aside I have been told that it is likely to have been uttered by the great actor Sir Laurence Olivier who was diagnosed with cancer and replied to his doctor not to be silly and that he was far too busy to have cancer...I think he lived quite happily for another 30 years or so.

Maybe a read of the SteveO book and in particular the chapter about memes would put the quote into context.

I wonder what would have happened to my mother if she hadn't gone to the doctor that morning when after a Hysterectomy she felt pain her left leg with a very high fever, went to see her doctor and he found out that she had a Thrombo !
or the afternoon that after my trip to my country i started developing horrible fevers ,with a terrible pain in joints ,vomit, diahrrea and HORRENDOUS CHILLS ,went to see a dr and he (God Bless Him) found out that i had MALARIA!!
Comments or posts like this makes me doubt about the whole TMS theory.or at least i find a lot of discourage.

Lara
