Since I discovered this wonderful Forum 2 years ago, I have been silently lurking around, with deep gratitude, for some of the more grounded & seasoned TMSers. Your dear voices suddenly gave heft and new life to Dr. Sarno's powerful books.
However, I've suddenly come out of the woodwork because I am dismayed at the lack of response to a once in a lifetime opportunity to honor our brave pioneer.
It's a no brainer. Just scroll down to 3/19/12 (Dr Sarno is retiring. Help create a tribute) by forrestfor trees. Clink on link (which had a typo which has been corrected), see the email pop up, write a message and send. Pictures are nice but not necessary. It's so easy even I can do it & my lack of computer skills is scary.
Am I missing some political or psychological subtlety in the non response?
Contributing helped desseminate my own sadness over his long deserved retirement.
Come on folks: It's for Dr Sarno! We wouldn't be walking and talking as well as we are without him! They should be drowning over at the WIKI from all the Forum contributions.

I wanted to thank all those involved in this wonderful project. I appreciate all of your hard work. I am grateful for the opportunity to thank him again in such a special way. I'm sure this gift will mean a lot to him.

Dr. Sarno deserves a thank you from everyone whose life has been enriched by his work. Although the way this life seems to work, few of us will ever know the impact we have had on others in our lives.

I only hope that Dr. Sarno can feel all of the good wishes that this book represents. I hope he knows that this book is but a drop of water in a vast ocean of gratitude that exists for his dedication and perseverance.

Thanks again.

All The Best,
Peg

Joy,
Yes we got it and thanks for sending it in! The Book has 70 entries and is 87 pages... looks very cool.
Thanks everyone!

I sent my 'thank you to Dr Sarno' yesterday, hope it got through okay. I wondered if it would trigger a flare, and lo, this morning I was woken at 6am with an old symptom, left rib pain, probably what a doc would call costochondritis.

I took a couple of ibuprofen, then I really thought about it. I'd done all the driving and cooking over the Easter holidays, while my husband mostly just drank and ate chocolate. I had been very annoyed, but suppressing it, because he's been working really hard lately, and I didn't want to 'spoil the holiday'. The day my husband went back to work, the pain kicked in.

What happens when I get 'costochondritis'? My husband rubs my back...

My subconscious is a little minx, it really is... Now that I'm onto it, the pain is already starting to slink away, and later I plan to do a workout... and next holiday, I'll make sure I speak up so that the work and play is more fairly distributed...

Thanks again, Dr Sarno!

The new deadline for all Thank You Dr. Sarno contributions is Tomorrow April 10th!. This is a great opportunity to tell Dr. Sarno just how much his work has meant to us. You can send you contribution to thankyoudrsarno@tmswiki.org .

Thank you all so much for participating. The contributions we have received are very touching and I am positive that Dr. Sarno and his family will cherish this book for years to come. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I had fun doing mine. I told Dr. Sarno that he has done enough (understatement) and I hope he can now have a lot of fun.

Love is the answer, whatever the question

Don't think that sending a thank you note will "Jinx" your recovery.
Actually a thank you even if you've just begun your recovery will possibly make that recovery happen quicker, because you are thanking the Guy who made all of this possible.

Send your thank you and quite procrastinating. It doesn't have to be perfect.
Sarno will be very very touched.

56 thank you notes so far.
Let's get a few more.

Thanks guys for continuing to bump this reminder up to the forefront.

I can die happy now as my favorite people chimed in to support my plaintive plea to honor Dr.S.

The only reason I even peeked out from under my rock is because of Tennis T's remark, a yr or two ago, that the Forum world gave him the oomph to get with the computer universe. I'd still be staring at a blank screen, bewildered, if it wasn't for his, unknownst to him, encouragement. And, Forest.....gently leading us through the informative, educational & sophisticated WIKI. Forest is right: reading the tributes will make one cry. In a good way. And, Hiffer: U hit the nail on the head. Sarno changed my fundamental thinking & gave me a healthy arrogance forever. No matter if I hurt or not.

You dear, dear WIKI team: The book is BEAUTIFUL. I can't imagine all the focused work you have put in. Take time to SLOWLY look at it everybody . There's still time to contribute.............

THANK YOU,ALL.

Hello Everyone,

We're up to 40 submissions now for the book. When we launched this effort a couple of weeks ago, 100 Thank You's for Dr Sarno didn't sound like too many to get. However, with only 10 days to our deadline to get the book printed up, I'm not so sure anymore. I'm hoping for a miracle folks.

If you've been meaning to, but procrastinating or perhaps not sure you should because you aren't 100% better, please send in something. It's as simple as sending an email to this address:

thankyoudrsarno@tmswiki.org

We would much prefer to have a picture of you doing something that you love to do, something active, but it could be whatever picture you would like Dr. Sarno to see (family friendly of course!).

A picture is not required though so don't let that stop you from taking action today.

Lastly, if you do not want your Thank You to be on the website and only be in the book, we can do that too. Your anonymity is important to us if it's important to you.

Best Regards,

Enrique

Thanks for all the hard work y'all are putting into this, is there any way the link can be bumped up or made into a sticky?

Best Wishes

Hi TT, thanks so much for your support. If you get a chance, I really hope you will send in your contribution. I'm sure it will be great.

In terms of people sending it in at the last minute, I have to confess that I do that all of the time, but I hope that people will try to send in their contributions as early as possible, for Carole's sake. The team consists of Carole, Enrique, Susie, Pandamonium, and myself (links are to our thank-yous on the web site), but Carole is doing almost all of the actual layout of the book, and I know she has a busy life. If you can only get the contribution in later, we'll pitch in to make sure it get in, but if you can get it in earlier, we'll be grateful.

In terms of spam, we're just a group of thankful people who have read Dr. Sarno's books and had our lives transformed, just like you. We'd never dream of trying to use people's email addresses to sell things. I promise that we won't rent or sell any email list. That just isn't what we're about.

So no hair straighteners.

I you haven't seen it, I can highly recommend the video of the current draft of the book that Enrique made:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYrPbZDDQ1Y
It's got 143 views already in just 5 days!

You can, of course, also see updates on the project website: http://www.thankyoudrsarno.org/

For anyone considering sending in a contribution, a photo is not required, but I really hope that you will consider one - ideally showing you happy and doing something that you wouldn't have been able to do without Dr. Sarno's work (of course, if you aren't at that point yet, that's fine, too). Some of the photos that I've seen have been incredibly moving, and it almost brings me to tears to see how much better he has made people's lives (even people who he has never met). I'm sure that the photos will have a similar effect on Dr. Sarno and his family, so I encourage you to include a family-friendly high resolution photo of you doing something you love.

Finally, the team is all working very hard, and if anyone has some spare time and would be willing to help out, we could really use the help. Just drop us a line at the regular email address: thankyoudrsarno@tmswiki.org

Thanks again for your support. I think that this will be a very special project.

Hey TT and Joy-
The thank you notes come to me and I won't spam you.
I wouldn't know how to if I wanted to!!

We are hoping to see some thank you's and photos (if you want) for the book from you guys!
I stop in here every now and then since this forum was the first I found 8-9 years ago and it really, really helped me with my recovery/discovery with tms.

I am looking for a good hair straightener since I have curly hair and my ambition in life has always been to be the fifth Beatle, or maybe only the third now--one w/man's spam is another man's must have "product".

I don't know much about computers either, probably less than you, since the only reason I got one was to be able to post here. There is something called spam-blocker you can have an expert install or an eight year old kid can do it, that should prevent the stuff from harming your computer. But the damage is done, Al Gore, the inventor of the internet, can find you whenever he wants to. But unless you have a house with nine bathrooms too, you may not be his type.

My theory on why we have't done Dr. Sarno's thank-you yet is we are TMS perfectionists therefore procrastinate to the last minute.

Cheers

Could it be that some people are worried about having to reveal their email address in order to add to the tributes? I know that that's a concern for me; but my knowledge of 'puters is nil, so perhaps someone could reassure me? I would love to contribute if it's safe to do so.

I don't want to end up getting sp@mmy adverts for hair straighteners!

Marla, you definitely don't have to be fully recovered to contribute. I sent in my own thank you and am certainly not pain free yet. I live for the day!
Marlawantstohike Posted - 03/26/2012 : 11:37:58
I guess I haven't because I am new here and just starting on the program. I am thankful to find him, I guess I could say that. I thought the tribute was for people healed by him and I only feel part way there…

Does that make any sense??
Carole Posted - 03/26/2012 : 10:45:48
Thanks for bringing this up!
The Book is getting there, but it would be great if you all would send a thank you... it doesn't have to be long, and you don't have to include a photo.
We've got 33 notes so far and it's 47 pages as I type this.
You can see what it's looking like here:
