I beat TMS a couple of years back after dealing with full-blown Fibromyalgia. Pretty great feeling.
That said, it does creep back up on me now and again but I usually just ignore it and it goes away.

I now seem to have some sort of shoulder injury. It happened when I was at the gym; pain in the front and back (by the supraspinatus). Have not gotten any xrays but it seems to keep moving around my shoulder and doesnt seem to be getting any better after nearly 2 months.

I am very suspect of TMS...

How does one differentiate a minor muscle tear (that could take some time to heal) and TMS?

When I used to have pain, I blamed it on some big/possible medical issue. Now when I have ANY type of pain...I blame it on TMS?

How do you know which is which??

I know how you feel, I beat the low back pain 10 years ago and am now recently chasing several TMS equivs, not fun when you think your done, and your not done.

Pain that does not stay on one place is often not from an injury.

Pretty sure X-Rays dont show details of soft tissue/muscle, but they are relatively low cost and would rule out some conditions.

Agreed. Your doc can decide if it makes sense to do any X-Ray/imaging... but be sure to describe fully how this pain moves around. If you doc comes up empty proceed to treat as TMS.

Would an XRay show a muscle tear? If you're concerned, it might be a good idea to get an XRay so that if nothing is found wrong, you can be fully convinced it's TMS.

I do think it's very important when you have pain, to get it checked by a doctor. I had a raging infection in my pelvic area and I attributed it to TMS. Not until I started oozing out of my belly button and my skin started to bubble up did I realize it wasn't TMS. I could have become septic, I'm very fortunate I didn't.

So yeah, I think the only way to know which is which is to get it checked by a doctor. If there is a problem, you can get medical help. If there isn't, you know it's TMS.

Hope you get feeling better soon!

Taylor
