Thanks...
And when I say boring I mean boring in a good way, there wasn't major tragedies in my youth...
All hell broke loose when I got older...Getting my teenage GF pregnant, getting married having a baby...Then a 2nd in a now unhappy marriage. Getting divorced, finding myself and getting married again and finding happiness...
I guess lately I have been so focused on the health and finally death of my parent's that I'm having trouble going beyond that...

Then express in your journal how you felt then and how you feel now. Recognize the emotions the child within may have had to repress in order to survive. The most difficult emotion to recognize is shame because it's the emotion we are most likely to repress and least likely to deal with. Connect with that child with patience and compassion, especially if you didn't experience this patience and compassion as a child from a father or parent figure. Then lecture the people who brought stress on you. You can write them a letter. It doesn't matter if they never read it. The most important thing is to express these emotions you were never able to express. You can also write a letter to yourself as a child or to an imaginary child experiencing the same stresses. You wrote that your childhood was boring. Childhood should be a period of joy and excitement. If yours was boring, then maybe something was missing. Find out what you missed as a child and how it affected you. |

The reason I ask is that its a bit of an odd process for me. I didn't have the worst childhood. There was no abuse, no divorced parent's, no alcoholism...Really compared to most it was damn boring :)
I try writing about things that have affected me in my day and\or past, but sometimes I'm just in a good mood...Case in point yesterday...I had went on a 2 hour bike ride with my wife, had a nice lunch with her and overall had a great day. I felt content.
What do you write about then?
