I am finding that the biggest hurdle I am going to overcome is adjusting how I cope with the stressors of everyday life so it does not do damage to my body. For example, I noticed that they opened up a recycling center (pretty much a landfill) right across the street from my new home on the main highway (we are across the street and down the first neighborhood block). Now, my mind already starts freaking out because I know the dangers of living close to a landfill and now I feel like I want to move and not raise a family in this neighborhood so close. I bought this house thinking there would be enough room if we had to stay here and the school district is good so if we could never afford to move, we would be fine. So now I am freaking myself out with questions....What if we can't afford to move? What if we have to stay here and our future kids have birth defects/learning disabilities because of it? MY mind is racing. I am trying to calm myself down. But it is hard. I definitely suffer from OCD thinking like that. And I don't like change and like to feel "set". How do I overcome this panic thinking I do?

Help!

Erica, I keep finding that I can identify with you! The beauty of overcoming TMS is that it is not a stress reduction program. You just have learn to recognize what stresses you and then experience that emotion psychologically instead of supressing it. I also noticed how you feel anxiety with things that are outside your control. I think I saw in another of your posts something about trusting God. As a fellow believer, I would remind you that the bible tells us like 400 times to not be afraid or anxious. It just doesn't do you any good! Just trust in God and in your own ability to bring about your healing. You can do this!
