I have never suffered from depression before (at least as far back as I can remember). After reading all of Sarno's books, and a few others, I now find my back and neck pain greatly reduced, but I have lost my zest for life in the past two weeks. I wake up and feel like there is nothing to look forward to. Is this depression? If so, can TMS hit a part of me that has never been a problem in my past--depressed feelings? This is all so confusing to me.

Kevin,
If you need to label it then it could well be depression.
More importantly look at your thoughts....what are you thinking to cause this negative feeling? It is my strong opinion that there is nothing more important in the world than what is going on in your head. Focus on this and get this right, the rest will fall into place.
Thoughts create feelings, and avoided/repressed feelings create TMS symptoms......the end! Start from the left of that sentence and work towards the right.
