Posted - 11/15/2011 : 18:05:36 Hey Sarah - just reading what you wrote really helped :)
I can go for HOURS, hours I tell you, I just drank a whole bottle of red wine in a pub for god's sake!, but A LOT of the time, especially when I'm out of the house - I need the toilet ALL THE TIME.
Soooo, I've just been IN the house, and I went to the loo () whenever I needed to - like, ACTUALLY needed to! which is just like "normal" people need, er, whenever their bladders are full! - and now I'm walking down the road, in the car, going there, doing this: I need the bathroom AGAIN?! So, "toilet training" in that way, would really help - putting a time limit on it, re-training it!
Thank you so much - I think this has come at the right time (so to speak! )

Posted - 11/14/2011 : 23:45:40 HI! I've been dealing with this off and on for years. This year was the worst. I have kidney stones, so TMS' "plausibility cover" was kidney stones. But after weeks of symptoms every doctor said "it cant be stones this time." So I started finding all sorts of far fetched kidney problems mentioned online that "might" be the problem. But Ockham's Razor kept telling me, "you've had 20 other TMS issues, why isnt this one too?" So how I've gotten it mostly under control (in a week, after 3 months of botheration) is putting myself on a schedule: every 90 minutes I go to the bathroom. In between I started talking to myself, telling my system that I had its needs taken care of, that there was nothing to worry about, that I'd get to the bathroom when I really needed to go. It's mostly worked, amazingly. Before taking this tack, I was starting to feel like I needed to go every 5 minutes. but the amount of change for the better I've seen in just a week confirms its just TMS, like my other 20 symptoms! and not some weird malady two very good local doctors couldnt find. (amazing the lengths my mind will go to NOT believe it's TMS again).

this for everything. if i have a "treatment" for a tms malady, i usually don't have to take it. it does its work by just being there. |

Wow, you know, you never really stop to think about the meaning of these phrases that are so full of wisdom. But yes, I've experienced this. Just this week before a very stressful doctor's appointment. I was going about 15 times a day and literally could not make it to the restroom in time. I've been blaming that on a 8lb tumor that has been sitting on my bladder for years, but hmmm this might just be TMS. When I'm not stressed out about doctors and such, it's not nearly as bad. That's amazing. |

Posted - 11/10/2011 : 10:19:53 I use Flomax to relieve urinary urgency symptoms when they crop up. It shrinks the prostrate from restricting the urethra, allowing for a strong flow and not having to go so often. Just knowing I have it as a solution in my medicine cabinet helps me not to make a TMS stress issue out of it anymore. In this case Flomax is literally the "volume control" for the TMS.
