I take issue with this statement. Whatever happens at death, happens at death. Nobody knows exactly what that is. To pretend that your beliefs about what happens determines what happens is not honest. Truth is truth, regardless of belief. And we don't know, factually, what that truth is at this point.

Even non-believers want to do good. We actually want to do it because this might be the only life anyone has. We should do our best to make it good for everyone. Not because some all-powerful entity is commanding we do on threat of punishment.

As for the topic of this thread--great one. Fear is the enemy.

Of course you are right, there are great many non-believers in this world. I do respect them and their belief systems. We will all find out the "truth" soon enough. It is not what you believe in is important, it is how you conduct yourself that is.
I even have many doubt in my own belief system. I have not been able to find anyone come back after dead to tell me what would happen after dead yet. But I am very very chicken. I just decide to pick one that make the most sense to me and follow it's teaching. Just in case, just in case... :)

balto....

So true. And so true about the self-focus. Until this crap started I never dwelt so much on the ME. Perhaps I dealt too little with the ME before, which was not good either. I was helping others before, but not for the right reasons. It was mostly done to enhance my feelings about myself -- one sad truth I learned with doing the TMS work.

Takes time to turn the ocean liner around, but that is what I am doing. I figure I'll always have some manifestation of this curse, and keeping it under control means thinking different. What I am doing is what I am supposed to be doing right now. Tomorrow, we will see.

Living freely. Getting up in the morning and not worrying "What if", what if I get pains and am somewhere where there is no doctor, no hospital, dentist. What if I am at someone's house who doesn't understand. Why bother even visiting. I would travel anywhere I want. I would look for a mate, which I feel I can't do now and impose this craziness on anyone. I would just LIVE. Like other people. Writing this is making me cry. I hate this condition. It dominates me and I feel angry for not being able to overcome it.

In the more than 15 years that I had mindbody illness, I was also suffered from agoraphobia so I didn't get to go any where more than 50 miles from my comfort zone. Since I was 'cured' I went to Thailand 3 times to volunteer and travel from north to south of that country. I went to Mexico, Canada, Philippine, Malaysia, Burma, South Korea, Vietnam to travel. I learned to cook and eat all kind of foods, foods that I used to affraid will give me tbs. I read abou its people and customs. I spent time and live with people in small villages and towns. I do volunteer or brought supplies to nonprofit organizations there. I visited beautiful temples, churches, and mosques. I talked to countless monks, priests, imams and learned a great deal from all of them. The one common things I most often heard from them is: "the main purpose for our existance on this earth is to serve. To serve others. For atheists when they die, their dead is the end of the story. But for non-atheists when we die we go to the next plane, the next world, the next life, the next whatever. and our next whatever will be good or bad all depended on how we treated others in this life.
