I have defintiely "cured" my IBS utilizing TMS-principles in the past but this time I am stumped.
Out of nowhere and within a 24 hr period of time, I started having terrible problems digesting food.

My naturopath said that i probably have Candida and very low stomach acid.

Ive been a mess for about a week now.

What to do here? She has put me on Betaine HCL for low acid production but it doesnt seem to be helping.

My question is, do I just "ignore" the symptoms or, is it possible I have a real/physical issue and I have to change my diet around and take these pills?

I understand how to deal with virtually ALL pains by "ignoring" the problem and "walking it off". How do you do that with IBS??

It is important to rule out medical problems. It could be you have some virus or bacteria and the treatment is warranted. It could also be TMS, but you can't make that conclusion until cleared by a medical doctor. It cannot hurt to ignore the symptoms as best you can while still taking the course of medication. If symptoms persist you should see a gastroenterologist who will likely want to do an upper endoscopy. Once you clear your mind that there is nothing seriously wrong, you can safely treat this as TMS.

Avik, digestion is an involuntary function of one's body, it happens without you having to think about it. If you can control your digestive processes voluntarily, then you have ascended to a higher level. My call, is TMS--it's doing it's job of DISTRACTING and PROTECTING you from seeing and dealing with your emotional issues, (see the Rahe-Holmes list for what they specifically are).

I just had a delicious pepper steak a couple of days ago and I wish it were still sitting in my stomach it was so good. Is it any surprise that meat is demonized by the media and and there's so much IBS? Homo sapien sapiens are carnivores. When the hunters came back with an elephant or a whale, the rest of the village celebrated, meat for a year, hoo-ray! Meat is the most concentrated form of amino acid and the gold standard of nutrients needed to rebuild or build-up body parts. That's why body builders eat so much meat. Flame away vegan beaners. The word "naturopath" just makes me want to involuntarily say the words "QUACK, QUACK, QUACK"--been there, done that and emptied out the wallet too much with "complementary" medicine. The Good Doctor's knowledge medicine is so much cheaper and less invasive.

Disclaimer: I'm not a real tennis player, I just slept at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

What is the exact nature of those problems?

You've been a mess for a week, not bad. I've been a mess most of my life.

I just cannot seem to digest anything.
Everything I eat stops dead in its tracks in my stomach and just sits there, making me miserable.
I have just "ignored" this before and its worked, but for some reason this time I am giving this thing a whole lot more attention becuase it came on so suddenly (literally overnight) and so severely.

I did also happen to eat alot of red meat last wknd, which has given me problems in the past and which I thought might be the culprit this time, as opossed to some anxiety or emotion based cause.

So hard to just ignore "IBS"...

ALEXIS-I have not seen a dr. this go around...

Have you seen a doctor or is your naturopath an MD (I know in a few counties that is a requirement)?
