Hey gang,
I've not asked a question like this in a long time as I'd rather focus on broader issues, but this has been a problem off and on for a long while, and I just don;t know how to proceed...

I'm an amateur pianist and sometimes get cramping type muscle pain in the back of my right hand. If it were numbness, or shooting pains, or some sort of weird carpal tunnel type deal, I'd ignore it on the assumption it'sTMS...

Part of the trouble for me in making up my mind is I've not heard of this kind of pain being discussed among you RSI/hand people...The pain always increases with more play, lessens with less. I really can't find anything suspicious about it with respect to patterns or situations.

Anyone with something similar?

Any thoughts would be appreciated....

I got to laugh GG cuz I have issues with EVERYTHING :>),
so it's a good question...

As to pain type, that's true too, although I'm used to a certain "kind" of TMS pain. Aching, thobbing, dull, this, that, the other, but never cramping.

Yet.

Hah!

Just throwing this out there Art:

Is there any reason you might have issues with playing the piano? Any insecurities or anything? The reason I mention it, is because you say you get less pain when you don't play, so maybe it's your mind trying to put you off for some reason?

I wouldn't say it wasn't TMS because it's "cramping" rather than shooting or numb - TMS can be burning, cramping, aching, stinging, pinching, throbbing... any which way but loose!
