Posted - 04/05/2011 : 15:52:24 I gave my Sarno books to a friend and just from searching the postings on it I can't tell is Sarno actually mentions it in any of his books.
Thanks! |

Posted - 04/06/2011 : 06:40:16 Complicated question. Actual infections are not TMS obviously, though as Susan points out stress can make them more likely.
Sometimes sinus pain/headache is actually migraine. Sarno does think migraine TMS (for what it's worth, which ain't much, I disagree).
Any pain without a diagnosable physical cause is very often TMS. I suffered from sinus pain for many years, blinding headaches that would radiate from my left eye (always the left) down into my teeth. It was I'm pretty certain, just one element of a complicate stress induced illness. Sarno would have called the whole deal psychosomatic I'm sure... |

Posted - 04/06/2011 : 01:41:19 I get Iritis/Uveitis.....which is in the eye. Doctors checked me and found that I am HLAB27 positive......which predisposes me to it and "backpain" ( even though my back pain moves all around, sometimes daily, located in my muscles or nerves and I have been able to stop the pain my relaxing my mind ) Nope it's definitely genetic and physical :-/
Mind you, they said there was no guarantee that having the HLA gene would mean I would get either....and they admitted that people can still get these problems even if they don't have the gene......in other words...it don't mean s**t.
My eye will cause me problems if I don't get sleep and am very stressed due to lots of pain....and I get lots of pain when I freak out about everything. That's what I have observed so far.
Loise Hays claims inflammation is due to anger, if I recall correctly.
I certainly believe its caused emotionally......however, can you throw it into the TMS bucket?....well I think that's up to you....but I do.
Western medicine simply can't explain somethings...

Posted - 04/05/2011 : 22:16:22 There's not really a yes or no answer. Hypothetically, you can say that any infection or inflammation is caused by stress then leading to a lowered immune system. My sinuses get clogged from certain weather conditions. If I sleep in a really dry room, I wake up with little air coming in to my nose and when I press my cheek, the sinuses are sore. Not TMS. I am wondering if you have a sinus infection or just swollen sinuses. I don't think it matters what you label it, as TMS or not...I think it should just be evaluated by an ENT doctor and treated to make you comfortable and make sure you don't have a sinus infection. |
