I bought the book and just started it. It comes with a video. I am wondering if anyone has done this program with the book (not seen him in person)...although I'd be interested to hear from anyone who also saw him as a patient. If you used the book and are in any stage of the program, I would love to know your impressions and if it has helped you. Thanks!

I'm glad they helped, Susan! Yeah, the blog posts will definitely take a little while, but I think that they are very well written, so worth it.

I know what you mean about having had it for so long and how that makes it tough to believe. I had my symptoms for 18 years and was incredibly skeptical. I'm much better now and feel free to do whatever I want, so please do believe that there is hope. :-)

Schubiner does not consider asthma fully a tms equivalent. Therefore I will not use his book. Any references to asthma being anything other than tms will delay my recovery.

I can recommend Schubiner's book as well - i think it's the best written (and most up to date) of the mindbody books out at the moment....

Forest, what amazing websites! Thank you so, so much for posting those! I read the first two and the third one will take time but I know I'll enjoy it. I just am finishing the first week and hoping this helps me. After reading all of the good reviews on both what you posted and the Amazon reviews, I feel a little hopeful. I say a little because I have had this for so long that I am scared that I'll be one of those who fails at this and then what...but I am giving it my all.

Hi, Susan, you might find the following helpful:
http://tmswiki.wetpaint.com/page/Unlearn+Your+Pain (lots of reviews!)
http://tmswiki.wetpaint.com/page/Dr.+Schubiner%27s+online+Mind+Body+Program (more reviews! --the online program is extremely similar to the book)
http://tmswiki.wetpaint.com/page/Howard+Schubiner%27s+Blog+Posts (free stuff he's written)
http://tmswiki.wetpaint.com/page/Schubiner+and+Gordon+radio+interview (a free online interview he gave recently)

I thought that the book is excellent. I interact with him periodically, and, for what it is worth, am consistently amazed by his character. He's also the first guy to conduct a randomized controlled trial to show that the TMS approach works.

I did the program in his book . I found it to cover a wide range . All types of journaling & meditation from the CD as well. I recommend it . I think anyone with TMS would gain from it. Some of the journaling exercises brought some strong emotions to the surface . I even confronted a person that I never would have had I not done the program.

Hi,
I just started it... I am still in the introductory section and have not gotten into the "meat" of the workbook yet, but I like his approach. I find it to be a lot more concrete than Sarno's and his examples of existing medical studies documenting the links between emotions and physical processes were convincing...
Have not met anyone personally who has met him but I have heard good things from what I have read online. He is about an hour from my parents' place so I am considering it.
That's all I've got to report for now!
