Posted - 03/19/2011 : 17:30:20 I have been away awhile, due to a computer crash and work-related exhaustion. I am typing on an iPad right now which is awkward. I hate auto-correct! But wanted to check in and say hi.
I have not had any back pain to speak of since I fully accepted TMS as my problem BUT I have had a chronic cough that has a very spastic quality (it started with a cold in late December) and wonder if I just pushed the TMS to my lungs. I have been to the doctor, had a chest X-ray, do not have any congestion nor asthmatic symptoms and am not taking any meds that would cause it. The cough worsens in times of stress (I have plenty.) Changes in air quality also set it off. It's driving me batty! It certainly has a TMS quality but I can't seem to convince the cough to go away, as I now can do easily with back pain. Anyone else been through this?

Posted - 03/26/2011 : 09:45:43 This could be caused by acid reflux, a common TMS symptom. If it persists you might want to visit a gastroenterologist. |

Posted - 03/26/2011 : 07:57:38 FWIW do the TMS work FIRST and if prob continues and is a re occurring “dry cough” perhaps even the need to clear your throat then treat for yeast. HTH My Best Kenny V

Posted - 03/20/2011 : 17:20:13 I have no personal experience, but once worked for an organization with a very popular director, who resigned after many years and was replaced by someone nobody knew. The new director really didn't stand a chance with the staff, or with the head of the company, who I remember criticized everything she did. She developed a chronic cough that lasted well over a year, until she was fired. She later told me that being fired was a huge relief, after which her cough disappeared. This was years before I'd read about Sarno but I was pretty impressed by stress related coughing. So, yes, I think it can definitely be TMS. |

Posted - 03/20/2011 : 11:41:51 Absolutely. I started coughing last Spring. I attributed it to allergic asthma. After a couple of weeks I went to my family doctor who listened to my lungs. He couldn't find anything wrong and told me that if it lasted more than a month, to get a chest x-ray. At almost a month it disappeard completely. That's when I figured it was TMS. Since then, I have had a few very short-lived episodes (maybe a day or so) which seem related mainly to stress. |
