Interesting article here guys.

Wake me up with your amphetamine blast
Take me by the collar and throw me out into the world
Rock me gently & send me dreaming of something tender
I was brought here to pay homage to the beat surrender

Great article, thanks for sharing it. It better defined some issues related to TMS I was confused about such as what is somatization, hypochondria, and psychsomatic.

I found several points in the article interesting:

"In fact, 60 to 80 percent of Americans have at least one somatization symptom per week."

"And, depending on which figures you believe, between 20 and 84 percent of people who consult a doctor do so for some form of somatization. Hypochondria alone is said to be present in 9 percent of patients who consult their family physicians."

This article was written in 1995 and I can't say we've come very far in recognizing the role emotions play in creating bodily pain. If anything, people have become more obsessed with their bodies and less with their minds.

I liked that article, simple, to the point. Thanks for posting it. I have friends and relatives that may benefit from it, people who are resistant to reading Sarno but they'll read this. Recognizing TMS is the first step to getting better.
