Hello from Ireland!

After years of IBS, hives, yeast infections and recurrent sore throats...I find myself crippled with RSI!

At least I am happy to have found a theory that makes sense, I was starting to think I was the weakest, unluckiest guy on the planet!

I am following Sarno's suggestions and I am feeling much better until...I sit down in front of the pc and start typing/using the mouse! The minute I reach for the mouse, my right arm/shoulder/wrist starts driving me spare. Should I stop typing? I am not really good at ignoring the pain so besides getting angry at my brain I don't know what to do!

This is my first post on this, hopefully one of the next few posts will be a "success story"!

Good luck everyone!

Fred

Hi Fred,

I had RSI symptoms (i posted my success story up on the success story forum somewhere) - and they definitely got worse before they got better: I accepted the TMS concept and then the symptoms had a good old go at persuading me it wasnt true. they backed off in the end though and I am fine _ I am sure you will be too. Have a read of all the success stories about RSi, I found those very helpful,

All the best,

Thanks folks! You are great!

Things are definitely getting worse for me and yet I have had enough glimmers of healing to remain optimistic. Changing an entire way of existence/being/responding/thinking is about as challenging as it gets.

I am glad to know it gets better.

take good care,
Sue

Thanks for the encouragement lads. One more thing.

From what I understand things can get quite bad as soon as you try to assimilate the TMS theories. It seems like the brain is trying to fool me for the last time by increasing arm pain and reactivating old symptoms in other parts of the body (sore stomach, hives etc..) all at the same time. It's like a grand finale!

Can you confirm things can get worse before they get better?

Welcome to the club Fred. I think many of us feel that way at times.

Hi there Fred, welcome!

I'm glad you're feeling better.

You say the pain starts as soon as you reach for the mouse. Try deconditioning yourself by just looking at the mouse. I'm also not good at ignoring pain, so I took a gradual approach to resuming use of the computer.

Have a read of this page:
http://tmswiki.wetpaint.com/page/How+to+ignore+crippling+pain

Also, have you read the Success Stories?

I'm looking forward to reading yours

Hilary N
