This may be a little lengthy but I feel I need to try and discuss everything.
I first learned about TMS this past July on accident. I read a book online from cureyourbackpainforever.org website since the author did not see anything wrong with my mri and suggested that my symptoms were conditioned. I read the book with instant relief for a few days to maybe a week and a half. I believe thats when my terrible shoulder pain started. I got that to go away after a week or so and now its back in my hip again. Most of the time it doesn't hurt or very little hurts, but doing pushups and coughing still create a great deal of very quick pain, it will go away shortly within less than a minute but it gets quite annoying. There are some other rather bizzare movements that cause some discomfort but I won't describe all of them, but I do know 2000% that this is all TMS at work. I've read mindbody prescription and healing back pain, just ordered divided mind yesterday and will move onto that next.
I have been doing the exercises from "unlearn your pain" 3-4 days a week, doing quite a lot of journaling about anything and everything that has come to mind, meditating a couple times a week with his dvd, and also writing some unsent letters. Some journaling has brought back some tears but I am happy for that, but haven't felt really much of a noticable change. I also haven't been reviewing the 12 daily reminders (I actually forgot about them woops, but have started again)
I want to start using affirmations daily and have read the article on the wiki but I guess I'm not real confident on creating good ones, so could I get any help (especially on my conditioned pain).
I would say my personality consists of low self-esteem, an extreme pushover, and being a people pleaser. Also, my eyes are chronically red most of the time and can control them with a certain eye drop temporarilly, I'm sure it is TMS at work too. Also, through the most advanced allergy testing to date, have discovered several food intolerances as well and these can be CURED through the new technology, and not treated. So maybe I'm thiking the foods can be part of the problem for my red eyes. If anyone could be of any assistance I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks,

Dan, the two peace officers here were Tatum and Kjarvis, who wrote a book on his TMS. You may want to search their posts for some commonality in sources of tension.

Hi Dan, there was a Peace Officer from Canada at this board a while back who was "cured" of his TMS and went on to write a book about it. I'll try to search for it later. I haven't had a chance to study your posts yet but I'll try later. Good luck with your career in law enforcement, the thin blue line is getting thinner and blurrier all the time.

Have you been checked out by a TMS trained physician?

Interested you say that. I am pretty sure my biggest TMS is pushing myself to get into shape so I can become a Police Officer. I'm 24 and got my BA in crminal justice. I still live at home and work in a warehouse because of this whole "dilemma". In 2008 I was lifting somewhat vigorously competing with my roomate and felt the slight tear/spasm in my hip, exactly where it still hurts although I know it healed. I was told after a while that it was a "disc bulge" and didn't care at first because I thought PT was going to take care of everything. After a while I realized it was only getting slightly better and the funniest things made it hurt. Four months later I threw my back out somehow (I have no idea how) I was extremely crooked and my shoulders were extremely off. All the hexing from good ol' chiropractors gave me alot of worry about not being able to become a PO, and doing all the "research" about "bad backs" and so on and so forth. (I did very little in the way of working out in fear of hurting myself). Now I know nothing is wrong with me. Any suggestions on anything in this post or my previous post? Thanks alot,
