For a fantastic introduction, watch this short clip from CNN last night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoHt9cSWJVI

Posted - 09/27/2010 : 21:10:55 Coronary artery disease is curable and reversible with dietary changes alone. That has been PROVEN by the legendary work of these individuals. It is evidence based medicine. It is good medicine. For this reason, coronary artery bypass surgery and stenting/angioplasty procedures are analogous to treating chronic back pain (TMS) with narcotics. Its symptomatic treatment. Its poor medicine. That is the only real point I wanted to get across and the evidence in support of it is overwhelming and indisputable, in my opinion. While I am of the opinion that a plant based diet conveys additional benefits beyond the realm of cardiovascular disease, I will agree that these results are far more equivocal (as they often are for cancer, which is clearly a multifactorial disease process).

Posted - 09/27/2010 : 18:42:21 The China Study may or may not be accurately researched, but I'd recommend being hesitant about taking criticism from a non-professional maintaining a site on raw foods. Raw foodism the ultimate example or orthorexia - aka OCD eating, and is generally based on such false premises as the idea that humans haven't evolved since the discovery of fire.
As a person whose suffered a genuine vitamin deficiency, I'll support anyone's claim that food is important. But for those here whose major challenge is distraction, turning your goodism to an obsessive focus on food is likely going to do you more harm than good. |
