I have suffered from TMS the whole of my adult life. Living in NYC in the early 80’s and suffering from extreme back pain, I read the famous New York Magazine article about Dr. Sarno and TMS. I became a patient and after a longer than normal treatment regimen I was pain free. Thereafter and throughout my life I have suffered temporary set backs, but I have always been able to implement what I learned to make the pain go away. I relocated to Boca Raton, FL five years ago and during that time I have been free of pain. Recently I have suffered a relapse and I am unable to get free of pain despite all attempts to use the tools of treatment learned long ago and reinforced by repetitive readings of Dr. Sarno’s books. So the question I have for the group is; CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A PSYCHOLOGIST IN THE BOCA AREA THAT IS FAMILIAR WITH THE DIAGNOSIS AND HAS TREATMENT EXPERIENCE? I fear (interesting choice of word there!) that I can not get pain free on my own like I have always able to previously. Any suggestions?

Sorry I can't help you Boca, that's all that's listed on the TMS referral sites such as TarpitYoga, Dr. Schechter, and here.

Since TMS savy therapists are few and far between, one alternative is phone sessions. I did some with Dr. Donald Dubin, who unfortunatly has passed away. I found they worked well for me especially if I was parked at a nice spot with good cell reception along the coastline.

You certainly live in a nice place, I had the pleasure of driving through there a few years back when I was checking out the tournament tennis scene through Florida. I hope to do it again this winter.

I believe Dr. Brady's practice is closed, but he may still be able to refer you to therapists. I found his book excellent, (but I've never read a TMS book I didn't like).

Good Luck!

Thanks Tennis Tom, I have visited Dr. Scott Brady's website and watched a lecture of his posted on his church's website. But I was hoping for a referral to someone who was located in the Ft. Lauderdale/Boca Raton/Palm Beach area. Anyone know of anybody?
