Yesterday was quite an eventful day for me. I have been planning to go back to work for a few months now and yesterday I got a call - I can start as soon as they can arrange an industrial doctor's appointment to check that I am fit to return - I am - so that is a formality and there is such a shortage of teachers here just now that they are not going to put up any obstacles.
I'm going to be a supply (substitute) teacher. I've never done that before and I'm looking forward to it. It allows a great deal of flexibility - I'll be able to work as much or as little as I want.
The phonecall came just after I'd visited the British Airways shop to buy tickets for flights to Philadelphia in April, to visit family who live in Pennsylvania.
When I think back two years - I could not conceive of ever working again and as for making a transatlantic flight - with my back!
My TMS gremlin made feeble attempts to stop me - back twinges and a headache with some dizziness (that's something that hasn't bothered me before - could it be because I've been reading the very interesting thread dealing with dizziness?) No matter - it's great to be able to smile at TMS.
So, thanks Dr Sarno and thanks to all of you - the support I got here was definitely a major part of my recovery.

Congratulations AnneG,
It doesn't seem that long ago that we were both newbies here. I remember your not being able to drive and having to quit teaching. ANOTHER TMS SUCCESS STORY! Unfortunately since we can't fit into testubes, our recoveries will not be recorded in the annals of medical science. Good luck and teach them kids how to rid & rite.

Congratulations!! Keep on smiling at that nasty gremlin because it's the best thing you can do!!!
I do recall seeing your name on the dizziness thread. Didn't you share that poem about parents? Loved it.
That's the thing about this tricky mindbody ailment - you read about something someone else has and it manifests in yourself. I have seen it over and over again. Don't worry though. Since you are able to realize that you have already won half the battle.
Good luck in your new endeavors and I'm glad you're going for it!
