Posted - 02/24/2010 : 07:09:54 I have a lot of pain symptoms but also have a ton of weird non-pain symptoms, too. I get other problems like:
- shortness of breath or like I can't get enough air or a full breath - smothering/choking feelings - skipped heartbeat sensations which make me cough - light wheezing - sinus drainage - cough - sensations where my chest or lungs will feel like it's closing up or full of cotton or otherwise just plain weird for a few seconds then it goes back to normal - feelings like my throat is closing - tickly sensations in my chest or throat - feeling of something poking me in my throat - tight feeling in chest - sensation of pressure on or in chest - feeling like a balloon is expanding in stomach or chest or pushing up into chest from stomach - dry eyes - clicking in ears
I have read a lot of posts about pain and I have that too and lots of it and quite randomly, but sometimes it's these other symptoms that scare the crud out of me, especially the breathing ones.
I have run to the docs so many times and spent thousands being told just to calm down, it's anxiety. It's hard to accept that when you're sitting there with a wheeze or feel like you are smothering or your lungs are full of cotton or something for a few seconds at a time. But then again it is weird that the symptoms usually change every some-odd days and also only seem to lasts for seconds at a time. I'll get the weird feeling like I can't breathe (but I can of course) for a few seconds, then it's gone. It will come back many times a day for some odd days then go away and then I'll have something else to worry about.
Right now I'm getting the weird breathing thing but very little chest pain. I am having back and shoulder aching and stiffness and LOTS of post nasal drip with a real tight cough. I keep checking my pulse, too.
Can all this be TMS? Anyone else get weird breathing symptoms that come and go like that?
I keep starting to think "OMG it's my heart!" and want to run to the doc but I'm really not sure what they can do since I know my lungs are clear and I'm obviously breathing. It's probably something from the sinuses (I had a bad cold last week) or because my husband mentioned that his lungs felt "full of concrete" some days back when he caught my cold. Can I be that suggestible? I had not had any problem with breathing before that at least not this way and not for a long while.

Posted - 02/24/2010 : 08:08:28 I think Claire Weekes says the human heart could take on the "panic attack" elevated heartbeat for a month before it showed any sign of damage. Thats how strong it is. And panic attacks only last 10min to an hour.
Your symptoms are pretty typical though. Let me call House M.D. and get back to ya! |
