In the case of TMS and after researching the subject for a long time Dr Sarno believes that it is slight oxygen deprivation that causes the pain in the muscles and nerves and tendons but does that apply to syndrome imperatives symptoms in the same way or is the 'mechanism' completely different?
For example someone may experience vertigo or fatigue or being hot or cold alternatively, ears ringing etc...is there a similar explanation scientific or not for how those symptoms are turned on?

My memory must be fading as I can remember reading about this, any feedback appreciated. Thanks

As I recall, Sarno lists the other pathways the brain uses to produce the non-muscular pain problems (i.e. frequent urination, ringing in the ears, whatever). I think his last book (The Divided Mind) expounded more on this than the others.

You can read Askok Gupta's explanation for CFS ( chronic Fatigue Syndroem) It is most correct than Sarno theory of distraction. It is applicable for RSI / TMS too.
