This article from the New York Times about mental illness, with its discussion of how cultural beliefs and expectations influence the symptoms experienced when people are under psychic stress, seems to fit into the theory of TMS. It points out that America's "symptom repertoire" is being exported around the world, causing more people to experience symptoms that were not common to their culture in the past. Kind of a long article, but interesting.
