Posted - 12/27/2009 : 10:35:26 I previously had sciatica pain in my right buttocks and eventually decided it was TMS, and that fixed that problem. Just before going on a Med cruise my right knee started aching fairly bad. I had to endure this all thru Europe, but I considered that it might also be TMS and toughed it thru. When I returned, I had an MRI done to see if there might be something physical envolved. Before I went to the Drs. office, I played 18 holes of golf that morning and told him so when I visited his office. He was incredulious that I had play ANY golf, and even walking with the diagnosis that he read from the Dr. who read my MRI. I have a shredded misniscus and something wrong with my lateral something or other. Anyway he said just wait and watch to see what happens. However, at the same time my right buttocks started to get mild symptoms of my earlier sciatica. Again it was mild, but BOTH my butt and my knee were hurthing at the SAME TIME. Now I understand, that TMS does move around, but has anyone had it at TWO places at the same time. From what I have read it should only be in one place at a time, so therfore ONE of my pains probably is REAL. (If this is true, it probably is my knee). Any viewpoints on this would be appreciated. Currently, my butt feels great AND the pain in my knee has subsided, but still slightly there. |

Posted - 01/04/2010 : 04:40:06 Yes it can ! and not only that but it uses your fears to find new places or create new symptoms . Fortunately this is also a way to differentiate TMS symptoms from the rest and it takes a little bit of "practice" to identify it this way, so just remember you're "okay" |

Posted - 12/27/2009 : 14:23:50 I have never heard that TMS can only manifest pain in one location at a tme. I had pain in multiple places and often simultaneously. |

Posted - 12/27/2009 : 11:08:40 Hi Alex,
Obviously I'm not a medic, so I can't tell you whether your particular pains are TMS or not, but TMS can definitely be in more than one place at a time.

By the way, TMS is REAL.

Posted - 12/27/2009 : 11:08:31 TMS symptoms can appear any place in your body . It will often pop up in more than one place at a time. Where it appears isn't really the issue. That it continues to give you symptoms is the problem. Your brain is very clever and moves the pain around. That is the strategy of TMS. (IT ISN'T SCIATICA or TINNITUS or BAD BACKS, KNEES, ELBOWS or CARPEL TUNNEL it is TMS. If you give it a name it becomes physical. If you haven't read THE DIVIDED MIND also by Sarno give it a try.
