Hi everyone,
Nice to see all these posts. I read them and still get inspired.
I have had pretty good success with my back pain now for 4 years. Other things crop up, believe me, but here's a new one I wanted to get your input on.
In June I broke my left toe next to the baby toe. Had to splint/tape it and hobble around for 6 weeks at least. In that hobbling/limping my left knee started to really ache a lot. My doc said it's been overused/overcompensated on and it should feel better once the toe heals. It did feel better after some time and pretty much went away. Now like 3 months later it's flaring up again seemingly out of nowhere. I haven't twisted the knee, haven't injured it. It's just aching again. Doc says it's the meniscus (inner part of the knee) which is a cartlidge type area and it could be a bit torn, probably not badly. I think this is plausible, however nothing happened to re-aggravate the knee. Thoughts?

Hi, It might be that becauase you have been hobbleing around, the leg has not been extending to its full movement. The inner thigh muscle near the knee cap does not get worked.

It has a techniqical name, but its also known as 'joggers knee'. Just a thought, Good luck

Thanks everyone, I've been taking Aleve and forgetting about it. My doctor said I could do PT but I'm not opening that Pandora's box. I figure if it's injured, it WILL heal.

Hi Mary..
I think the important thing to look at is where you are (or aren't) as relates to emotional stuff. I know it's always a little more difficult to sort out when something 'real' is connected to it, but you recovered. The fact that you recently had a vaguely cause-effect sort of dynamic would not seem relevant to the fact that the new episode 'came out of nowhere'

These things don't come out of nowhere. Nothing comes out of nowhere. Something comes out of Somewhere...and I'll go a probable 12 to 7 that it's Something....a something that's a pain in the arse nothing called TMS.

My last show about 2 years ago,was a knee deal, and it even swelled up and got 3D ugly....fortunately my MD is TMS Saavy (though he's not familiar with Sarno in particular)

It came out of 'nowhere' when my wife and I were getting along (I was in an unconscious RAGE about being left alone with the kids for 10 days), went away when we got separated, came back out of 'nowhere' when my new lead singer kept forgetting lyrics on stage, and went away as soon as I fired him.

Seeing as how you and I aren't altogether too different I'll go a -290 that it's TMS. (a -290 is the New York Yankees playing a high school team...stone cold lead pipe LOCK)

there's a thought.

I, too, had meniscus pain in both knees in Sept 06. One got better, the other one (right) kept getting swollen, catching, locking, and generally wouldn't cooperate. I would ignore it, but that didn't seem to work either. I had an MRI and it was torn. I decided to go ahead and get it scoped, a very simple 'surgery'. Unfortunately, I had an over-zealous doctor who decided I needed a much more invasive surgery (microfracture) and I ended up on crutches for 2 months, got blood clots, and my knee has never been the same. To say I was furious is an understatement.

I tell everyone now to ice it, ignore it, use it, and give it several months before doing anything surgically. Good luck.
