In healing backpain Sarno says something like that after one of the muscular spasms in the lower back sometimes the trunk is displaced to one of the sides or forward but that this has no significance? Not sure if I understand what he means... is it OK to feel loop sided the rest of the life?,
the traumatolog specialist told me from looking at my X rays and also my physioterapeut that due to the muscular contraction that happened in my lower back triggered by me bending down (yoga style bending in the waist not bending in the knees...something of course now I am afraid of doing again)the spinal column has a slight bend to the right at the lumbar zone and then is a bit out of position higher up ....? I can see/feel this (unless I am just paranoid), but after reading Sarno I am wondering if does it not matter? Both told me that with exercises of the musculature this will "fall back into place".
CAN this be TMS also? I am sooo unsure these days because after physical therapy I felt so good, until I had a fall back with great neck pain, and now after 10 days of reading Sarno I first felt better and optimistic, but now feel that I have more pain, more fustration, depressive thoughts (10 days = not very pacient maybe?)
Even if I identify painful repressed/forgotten memories in myself and write them down, feel them, cry etc. I still have this feeling of being totally rigid in my body, feeling of this spial column being twisted and not moving correctly, pain moving around up to shoulders etc. I feel worse in a certain way, and sometimes I cannot shift my attention to emotional issues because I feel nothing/ I feel frozen like an icecube, or just numb.....

Is this NORMAL? Anyone has experienced this and still gotten to the other side cured of TMS? Free from pain and fear of uninhibited movements?

I would be happy to know.

Nikita.

I just want to say that I am so well now and that those nights reading and listening to Sarno were crucial!!!!!
What has helped me stay pain free is that I go now and see a Jungian analyst once a week! I recommend it to anyone :=)

****thanks to everyone for being here at this forum helping eac other*****

this is very common, in fact. it happened to me
IT'S A PHYSICAL SYMPTOM! IGNORE IT! it WILL go away, forget about xrays etc. they just make it worse.

I believe Sarno means that a distortion in the trunk might be more easily deemed a "real" injury, but, take heart, it too will get better. It is not permanent.

I am feeling exactly the same way. I feel worse. My depression had subsided, but it came back really hard this weekend. I've been stiff as a board too. Maybe it's just that it gets worse before it gets better while doing the therapy. We probably are a little impatient as well.

well- for anyone who has read Healing back Pain:
On page 15 quote:
"Not uncommonly the trunk is distorted by one of these attacks (the acute attack in the lower back). It may be bent forward or to one side, or a bit of both. The precise reason for and mechanism of this is not known. Naturally it s very disturbing but has no special significance"

Now I would assume that this has happened to someone here on the Fora as well as to me?

Anyone like to share?
I am surprised Dr Sarno does no elaborate a bit more on this? What does he mean by no special significance. For me it is of significance, of course I want my column to be straight again.....
