Hi Guys,
I have read Healing Back Pain and The Divided Mind.
When I started Healing Back Pain I was suffering from pain on the chest area and shoulder. I had gone to several doctors for the chest pain and nobody knew what it was. That's one of the main reasons it seems to be TMS.

Anyway, as I finished the book, the pain had signicantly decreased. But after a few weeks and not thinking about the book anymore, it started hurting again and now I developed also a pain in the leg, in the same place I had a strain 3 years ago.

Is it normal to increase TMS sysmptoms when you actually start to treat them?

I have not been doing the daily writing. I only think about the issues, but don't write them. Does it really make a difference when we write about it?

How can I find out if the leg is structural or tms?

Yes. The brain will not give up its strategy without a fight. It will evolve its distraction techniques to try to keep you from figuring out its tricks.

I think it is important. Writing exercises different pathways in your brain. If you perform stream-of-consciousness, unabashed and unedited journaling, it could make you aware of different emotions that lie beneath the surface.

If you had a past injury then you need to accept that that injury healed completely. Also realize that the brain often chooses locations of prior injuries in order to have a better chance of succeeding in its distraction. If it's just a little pain try to ignore it. But if you suspect anything structural it's best to have a doctor rule out serious problems.
