I am happy to say that the two books that I feel have helped me a lot in my recovery from TMS were mentioned by forum members on here and I am so grateful for that and the in depth discussions that followed.

So, I am trying to compile a list of books on the TMSwiki http://tmswiki.wetpaint.com/page/Books that will be beneficial to TMS sufferers. As you can see if you follow that link I have made a start but I am sure you good people will have loads of suggestions. For example I know mislorinj always mentions Louise Hay and one day I must get round to getting some of her books but which ones would be the most relevant to TMS??

Ideally it would be good to have the Title, Author and a quick description of what type of book it is, but even the first two will be brilliant as I can link them to Amazon and people can see for themselves. So, could anyone reply to this, or if you like you can add them to the wiki yourselves.

I would be so grateful for you help,
Panda

Has anyone mentioned "The Power of Now" by Echart Tolle?

I all have added the books you suggested and wondered if you could have a quick look and tell me if you think the 2 line summary I have added is ok or not? Southern Grace, what do you think? http://tmswiki.wetpaint.com/page/Books

Any other books we should include?

Thanks Abi and SG for that list.

I notice that a lot of peopl mention the "What to say when you talk to yourself" book, maybe I should highlight books that get several mentions?

I will try and add that lot soon.

It's the Find Your Right Life, No Matter What version. Martha's work is based on a huge combination of mindfulness techqniques, newer brain science, and acceptance and commitment therapy as describe by Steven Hayes (noticed the person above me mentioned his book - I second that!)

A new book that's not specifically about health, but is extremely helpful for mental/emotional healing is Steering by Starlight - Martha Beck.

Hi, A great book that helped me thru TMS and actually feel and unlock some hidden feelings is _Focusing_ by Eugene Gendlin, PhD. It's an oldie but goodie.

Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach

Pain Free for Life by Dr. Scott Brady

YCHYL by Louise Hay is the best one IMO. It's on the list already. And the accompanying workbook is good too. Also The Power is Within You by Louise

The Pathway by Laurel Mellin on how to process feelings. This is where I learned my style of journaling which is very effective.

Mind/body connection and how diseases/conditions can be healed by processing emotions:

The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy was one of the best I've read.

Hi Panda,

I'll add to the list on the wiki when I have a few minutes. I'm off to work.

Thanks for doing it

Peg
