In the last couple of weeks I have been plagued with lower back pain, something I never had except when I was pregnant with twins 10 years ago. But even then it was nothing like this is.

This particular back pain came at the tail end of cold I had. It was accentuated by long hours of sitting and driving one weekend. Now I dont know what to do about it. I am thinking it it post-virus inflammatory symptom, but I often ruminate about it being related to something far more serious like kidney problems, etc.

Does anyone who has had lower back pain know what the usual duration is?

Interestingly, my lump in the throat symptoms (TMS) that I have had for years have disappeared while having the back symptoms. This makes me think the back problem has replaced the throat problem as the symptom imperative.

I am looking for some kind of metaphorical explanation for why it decided to move from my throat to my lower back. Is anyone into the Louise Hayes books?

Thanks for any insight / support provided.

Sounds like you've made an important connection between the beginning of your pain and your financial concerns.

Have you asked your significant other to pick up some of the load? Might be a good idea. Or at the very least share your worries about the topic.

Best,
Peg

MonaLisa Schultz chakra relations? Feelings Buried Alive Never Die also has a symptom section which talks about lower back and financial issues, but also relationship issues.

You hit the nail right on the head with money and financial issues - January was spent doing the books in my business, worrying about losing a client - way too much financial responsiblity in my life - something I hate but feel I inherited from the fact that my father died when I was young and that left our family financially vulnerable. Dont know how to extract myself from the level of financial responsibility I carry around. Wish my significant other would pick up some of the load.

Anyway thanks for the perfect insight.

Hi justme,

It's always a good idea to have a new symptom evaluated by your physician.

"This particular back pain came at the tail end of cold I had."

What was going on in your life (emotionally) before it began?

"It was accentuated by long hours of sitting and driving one weekend."

Was it a pleasure trip or an obligatory, stressful one? Your mind might be using the long drive to begin the pain knowing that you might fall for it and think it's physical.

"I am thinking it it post-virus inflammatory symptom."

Is there really such a thing? Never heard of it.

"but I often ruminate about it being related to something far more serious like kidney problems, etc"

Ruminate? Sounds like TMS. With us TMS'ers it has to be something serious, it can never be something simple. But it is easy enough to have a urinalysis to check for a kidney infection or issues.

"Interestingly, my lump in the throat symptoms (TMS) that I have had for years have disappeared while having the back symptoms. This makes me think the back problem has replaced the throat problem as the symptom imperative."

Makes me think the same thing. I would suggest you approach this the same way and do the TMS work. Accept, try not to fear, journal, challenge the pain physically.

Good luck,
Peg

I had on and off lower back pain for many months, then so intense I was stuck in bed. till I learned of Dr. Sarno and his program and did the work.

Oh, and mind/body pain does move around to keep you thinking it's something physical.
