For anyone who has read extensively about this, or has had a personal experience, my question is:

Do you think it is harder to convince the mind that your pain is based on repressed emotions, if the pain had a physical trigger such as a fall, accident, etc.?

Therefore, do you all feel that it takes typically longer for this type of person to recover from TMS as opposed to the person whose pain just started for no apparent reason?

TSF,

I look forward to talking with you. When you think you got the computer thing figured out let me know and I will check my e-mail. Please e-mail me back from the address that you received my second e-mail from.

That's it in a nutshell.

tcherie -

I hope you see this. I did get your e-mail (your 2nd one, I believe). I tried to respond, but I ran into a glitch. It's a little computer problem I've had before. I will try to get it fixed in the next few days. I saved my draft so I can re-send it to you. Hope to talk to you soon!

This is a quote from HBP, but only from memory.

"I have "NEVER" seen a patient with pain who did'nt attribute it to some type of physical incident such as a fall or accident recently or 10 years ago."

I see what you mean though. I think you mean acute pain after a fall, as opposed to delayed onset pain a few months after a fall. I think the mind will make both indidents (recent or far) as important to you as it has to, to do the trick. In other words, due to our minds ability to overhype, it makes no difference IMO.

Yes TSF!!! You got me figured out!!

I am sorry I do not check my e-mail often. I sent you an mail directly. Let me know if you got it. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

Back on topic... Anymore thoughts are more than welcome. I accept TMS, and try to be positive most days. When i am particularly stressed and I have to deal with these annoying symptons I just start to question if maybe something phyiscal is going on.

Thanks winnieboo.

tcherie,

This if off topic.

I tried to e-mail you about a month ago, but didn't get a response. That's OK if you did not want to respond, but I just read a comment here a few days ago indicating that other people are having trouble with the e-mail feature and are wondering if it is not working.

I read one of your posts in December regarding the holidays. I think we may have something in common (Song 113). If this is so and you would like to contact me I have made an attempt to update my bio info, although when I checked back it wasn't showing. (But yesterday I made a post and it did not show up till today.)

Anyway, if we have this thing in common, I would like to get your opinion on dealing with TMS from our unique perspective.

Thanks!

My pain started as a result of a physical trigger and I've recovered. It was helpful for me to think of my situation as this: I had the injury, but injuries heal. My mind latched on to the physical symptoms (and made them chronic) as a way to distract attention from the many emotions I had to face, sort out and deal with. The next step is to learn to be open and accepting of emotions that continually come up and to practice tolerating any resulting discomfort.
