Posted - 01/28/2009 : 15:24:24 There's nothing on the DVD that isn't already in The Mindbody Prescription or Healing Back Pain. That doesn't mean it can't help you, but that is the honest truth. That being said, I do feel that hearing the strong sense of conviction in Dr. Sarno's voice -- whether it be through the HBP audiobook or the DVD -- does offer significant value. Remember BELIEF is a big player in this game and Dr. Sarno is a very persuasive physician. He's a fun person to listen to. I actually have the HBP audiobook on my iPod and from time to time I'll be running and it'll randomly go to it and I listen to it just because its always enjoyable to hear Dr. Sarno talk even if I've heard it all before. Once my girlfriend actually snatched one of my headphones away from me while it was playing and she said to me: "even while you're running!"

Posted - 01/28/2009 : 14:49:12 How much are you spending on chiropractic, copays, pain pills - over the counter and prescription, missed work, seat cushions, new mattresses, massage, physical therapy?
$90 bucks for information that can lead to major relief or even a permanent cure is an absolute bargain.
What value do you place on feeling strong and pain free?
Just my two cents...
As for the lecture itself, it gives you pretty much exactly what you'd get if you paid Sarno $600 or more for a consultation and go to his lectures live. Now add in the cost of getting in and out of NYC.
Make your own decision - but when it comes to curing your pain - we've all wasted way more than $90 bucks on stuff that had no chance of success.
And truth is - the guy who took the time to find Sarno, convince him to allow the video to be made, put the DVD program together, created a website - should be allowed to make some money to compensate for his effort. |

I think it's worth viewing for two reasons--first is that it gives a condensed explanation of TMS. If you have attention span issues and can't sit through "The Divided Mind", then the video is a good way to go. Second, the Q&A and interviews with patients are very valuable. There are people at the lecture who ask questions you may be thinking while watchint the video. The interviews with these patients gave me hope because they showed people who had TMS and were recovering. |

Posted - 01/27/2009 : 14:22:03 The audio CD of Healing Back Pain is much cheaper and it's something you can put on in the background when you're doing other stuff. I'm a great believer in subconscious learning - i.e. you don't have to be consciously listening to something to absorb it.
(I always recommend to language learners that they put the radio on in the background - you don't have to be actively listening or even understanding to absorb it.)
Georgie Oldfield (in the UK) has also made a DVD. It's not cheap (but then I guess, neither is the cost of making it) but with the pound being so low it might work out a cheaper option.

Posted - 01/27/2009 : 08:54:46 Because it's some guy's production company and he wants to make a buck. Really. Sarno is not the direct marketer. I believe this guy had approached Sarno about making the video in the first place.

Posted - 01/27/2009 : 08:53:01 I'll have a look on eBay tonight but if not I guess I'll just have to part with the cash.
Can't imagine why on earth it should cost so damn much though. |
