I think I have read somewhere (thought it was HBP but can't find it) about some stats where out of 100 people's MRIs a certain number had herniated or bulging discs but no pain.
Can anyone tell me the actual quote?

Hey Lori,
thanks for that. The reason I asked is because I have written my success story, well in fact I have written 2! One is posted on here and is written as if people know what TMS is, the other is slightly different, it's written for an audience who have never heard of TMS and who may need lets say a little shove in the right direction  it's for those people I wanted the stats.
I'm not hung up on it at all though

Panda, don't get hung up on proving to others. Everyone has a readiness factor; some will realize there is a mind/body connection, and some are so conditioned that everything is physical. I know we want to shout this stuff from the rooftops, but some people are not ready to hear it and may never be.
One of my current affirmations is: I accept others as they are which means accepting they may not believe they hold the key to their healing. And that's sad, but it's ok!

The Mindbody Prescription p. 71:
H. L. Rosomoff, a neurosurgeon, has found that lumbar disc herniations are responsible for low back and leg pain in fewer than 3 percent of cases and treats his patients conservatively — that is to say, nonsurgically.
p. 73:
Lumbar MRIs were done on ninety-eight people with no history of low back or leg pain. Thirty-six percent had normal discs at all levels, 52 percent had a bulging disc at one or more levels, 27 percent had a disc protrusion and 1 percent had an extrusion. Their conclusion: "The discovery by MRI of bulges or protrusions in people with low back pain may frequendy be coincidental."

Have you tried MBP or TDM for that info?
I remember reading that too--the random people chosen for an MRI and most had no pain but some kind of "normal abnormality" on their spine. |
