Just thought I'd share another success story about TMS with you all. My skeptical husband, who only believes TMS applies to me and all my psychological symptoms, finally has seen first hand the power of the mind, although he won't admit it. For the past couple of weeks, he has been complaining that his back hurts and that he thinks he "threw it out" but "is not sure how." He kept telling me that he needed to set up a chiropractor appointment with the chiro we always used to see.

Well, about a week ago, we were lying in bed talking in the morning and he was saying to me that he just doesn't know why his back hurts. I then proceeded to exclaim "Why do you think your back hurts? You are quitting a job you have been at for 20 years. You are working your new job without anyone knowing and you constantly tell me how hard it is snaking around behind your boss's back. Now throw in the fact that your 15 year old has been doing some things that aren't in her best interest, like skipping school for a day and trying alcohol at a friend's house. Mix in the holidays just for fun." My husband then said "Yeah, I guess you're right." Later in the day, he went to Brookstone and sat in a massage chair for 20 minutes. The next day, he proclaimed that his back was feeling much better. I said, "Well of course it is. I brought to your attention all the bulls--- that you didn't want to think about and you thought about it." He replied "Yeah, but don't forget I sat in the massage chair yesterday for 20 minutes. I think I found the cure for my back pain."

I guess there are times when you can't teach an old dog a new tricks. However, we all know the real reason why his back is "like new."

HEY!!!

I admit I'm wrong all the time.....it just takes a month or 10.

I stopped bugging my wife a Looooooong time ago.....her placebo's don't work, but she believes none the less...I just do what Laura did and illuminate the continuity of the stresses in her life without implying they are the reason for her pain....oddly enough, the pain always subsides.

Merry Xmas.
