Posted - 12/01/2008 : 11:09:16 I have a sensation in my left arm that I can only describe as a numb warming. The numb feeling isn't the same kind of numb feeling I get when my arm falls asleep. It feels different. I also feel like I'm a little detached/having an out of body experience/foggy-brained. Sometimes I feel like I have a tingling in the back of my head and my mental capacity isn't quite all there. It's really difficult for me to describe these symptoms.
I'm under a ridiculous amount of stress right now, so I'm sure this is at least partially TMS-related, but I still want to get some tests and have other things ruled out. I just don't know how to describe what I'm feeling.
Do you have TMS symptoms that you have trouble describing? |

Plus it changes a lot, so it is hard to describe. i also had it in my arms a few years ago, it was definitely numb warming type of sensation.
Either way, it has been subsiding, so don't have doubt in being able to cure yourself =]
My left arm numbness subsided yesterday and I feel mostly fine today. I had a little bit of the same sensation in my arms and head, but not nearly as bad as yesterday. It comes and goes.
Thank you for the word of encouragement. I do sometimes doubt if I can help myself, and I know that just perpetuates the negative cycle.

"Hottm8oh" - I read all his books and studied anatomy sine 1990's. Not very long, but before Sarno, I worked as a Medic and had bad pains, headaches, out-of-body experiences (OBE) etc... After Sarno - it all changed. Now the pain is what you were trying to describe.
Analyzing what you wrote is not easy. You say Ridiculous stress? That can be (work) (family) (spouse you're upset with) (being single) (perfectionist) > So the issue is what is your routine that you do because you THINK you have to? Because EVERYONE expect it? Or you want to avoid being viewed a certain way?
One thing about OBE's is that they're Oxygen related. Numbness is too. Pain is as Sarno helps us to see. You may want to even consult Sugar Levels which contributes too. My perfectionist self tended to skip meals because I had to work and get things done! That fed my anger and frustration.
My pain has gone away for some time, but not completely because my issues are so stinking deep seated. I spoke with Sarno a few times and his hours are crazy early which increases my TMS! LOL
So - all I can tip you with is analyze your life daily. If you don't have Sarno's DVD video - get it.
The short answer is that I have mostly health related stress. I have some job related stress, too, but my biggest issue is health. I have been diagnosed with an intestinal disease, but I don't know how bad it is just yet. I am in constant abdominal pain, but I have to wait a few more weeks for the diagnostic tests. Some of the abdominal pain could be TMS, or some of it could be structural or it could be all structural. I'm in a holding pattern and the wait is making me crazy. I'm very scared of what the future holds for me. Will my digestive system hold up and behave itself, or will I need bowel resection surgery? Will I end up hospitalized, in severe pain, or with a colostomy bag? Every time I feel abdominal pain, I become terrified that I have another infection, so I start obsessively taking my temperature. (Fever is a sign of infection.) This all started in October when I landed in the ER with what I thought was appendicitis. It wasn't appendicitis. I had another infection in November and spent the entire month in terrible pain. That's when the neurological symptoms started.
I recently bought Sarno's DVD and I plan to re-read Divided Mind once I'm finished with something else I'm in the middle of. But more than anything, I just need these diagnostic tests done. It's the waiting, the living with pain, and the unknown that infuriates me.
Funny also that you talk about skipping meals. My doctor told me it takes 6-8 weeks to fully heal from an infection, so I'm in a mushy food diet. I've been eating a lot less--mostly rice, vegetable soup, bananas, smoothies and apple sauce. I've lost 10 pounds in 6 weeks. How screwed up would it be if my symptoms are because I'm just so fricken hungry? |
