So, yesterday was my first day of therapy for this here bicep tendonitis!

Well, guess what I was told by the therapist is the reason why I am having this pain in my main tendont is because MY SHOULDERS are rounded and pulled back in the relaxed position

Okaaaaay, I think Dr. Sarno would laugh at this...In other words she told me I have bad posture...I lift weight and I am very strong and she said that if I try not to lift with my shoulders in the round position and pull back more this will open the impingment that I am having...

So the next thing they start doing is ultrasound therapy. I asked the therapist what is this therapy supposed to do and she replied "well this is going to increase blood flow and oxgen to your tendon for it to heal faster!!!!!

Ah, huh, isn't this the crux of what causes TMS lack of blood and oxgen flow???? I laughed and let them do there thing, and then they gave me a bunch of exercises to do with free weights that weight about 51bs. This is to strengthen my shoulders so my bicep stops hurting, LOL COME ON I lift weights....

Well needless to say that was my first and last visit...In short with all this therapy, massage, ultrasound, exercises, my bicep tendon still feels sensitive....I guess TMS is the culprit once again and NOT the overuse of lifting or shoulder position..

I am going to go back to the gym next week and try to lift half of what I did just to get my piece of mind back. It's going to be tuff, because the bicep still feels sensitive, but oh well...

Thanks for reading Kalo

hi Kalo,

I was big into weights, and hope to be again someday. Anyways, I had really bad lower bicep tendonitis in my left arm right in the inner bend of the elbow that developed after alot of straight bar cheat curls. It felt as if it was gonna snap at some point. Felt the pain on row movements too if I involved too much arm. I was too stubborn to stop lifting.
I eventually found the e-z bar curl more comfortable as it switched the movement up a bit. I did'nt rehab it at all, in fact I lifted heavier and heavier every time and just assumed I'd stay off the straight bar.
At some point, a month or two? I rtn'd to the straight bar for some workouts w/ no more pain. I don't know if it was tms, injury, whatever. Don't care. But it went.
I think the reason it went away is that my brain did'nt get wrapped around it like it has for other symptoms.

Kalo, are you addressing things by writing about them? Even sometimes talking to someone you trust helps. . . any way of getting it out.

Hi Again mizlorinj

I've been stressed out from work and I talk to my Mom and stuff. I am in a job that I thought I would like, but really don't...

I also tried looking for a new one, however, the economy is rough and I can't seem to find that many job openings. So, I am stuck at this one.

Life in General is stressful, but that's life....Though it really helps to talk. I used to see a pshcyologist who said that he believed PAIN = Depression. I showed him Dr. Sarno's book and he thought it was great!

My S.O. had shoulder pain last November; he had not yet told his mother he wasn't coming to NY for Thanksgiving (first time EVER he wasn't going). Said he must've lifted too much or "wrong" (always funny for me to hear that). I thought a few seconds and asked "have you called your mom yet?" No, he hadn't. Saw him later in the day and I asked how he was feeling. "oh, the pain is gone, I called my mother!" We still laugh about that incident!

Hi mizlorinj,

Ya know I should of entitled my post PHYSICAL THERAPY!! Sorry, I hope people will understand my post when they read it...LOL!!!

You're right those therapist are trained to find the physical cause of the problem....I have NEVER had bicep problems in my life and I've been lifting for almost 10 years...

I will say there has been LOTS of stress going on with me right now...And isn't it funny how my bicep starts hurting...

Thanks for your reply!!!

ok, at first I thought you meant psychotherapist (from the title of your post), which would be surprising of course and mean this is not a person who understands the power of the brain.

So since this appears to be physical therapy, why would it be surprising that they'd pinpoint something physical? That's what they're taught, and rare is the one who wouldn't blame something else physical. Not at all surprising. Funny though to hear them talk about getting the blood flowing to the area. . . der! TMS!

Physical therapy does not keep your mind focused on psychological issues. That has been repeated here a zillion times.
