Please read that post on by Mala on the "remarkable recovery" and note the almost "systematic desensitization"-like process that she used when recovering from her TMS pain. Its almost similar to what Fred Amir did. Starting from the point where you arent doing any of the things that cause pain and only doing them a little at a time rat5her than sushing headlong into them and getting your head handed to you. It seems as if it builds confidence along the way. You know, walking before you run kind of deal.

Years ago my TMS had produced burning throughout my body. I couldnt even do push ups (let alone weight lifting) whithout it hittingt me with the burning. Then I remember I started by doing 1 push up a day until it seems not to cause the flare up.Then I did 2. Then 4. Then 8. In teh course of a few short months I was back at the gym.

Not saying you should do the gym now, but saying that this principle of small steps seems to help many. It also is sensible in light of the literature on systematic desensitization. Look it up if you dont know much about it. But just substitute "pain" for "fear."
