Posted - 08/05/2008 : 11:44:24 Dear all,
Step one of the recovery is i think the hardest, at least in my case. Totally rejecting physical causes of this disorder and letting go of the fear.
I have a question about my left lower back. Maybe someone can give me some direction.
I always have in my lower left part of my back on de edge of the hip and the lower left muscles a dull, stiff or other sort of feeling than in the rest of my body. When i have pain it is always there. When there is no pain it always feels tense or different. The spot never feels at ease or as normal as the right hip/ right lower back muscles.
My question is: I have a flat lordose and my spine tilts a bit to the right. (i saw that on the mri). Can these 2 "īnbalances" cause permanent muscles pressure on my lower left back muscles. I think because the spine is a bit of to the right the pressure on the left is higher and so the muscles are faster overworked.
I ask the question because the spot is never normal and it's constantly working on my fear. It also brings doubt in my acceptance of rejecting the physical, because it is always present in a way. I try to see it as a mindpattern but i want to exclude possible things that i don't know about misalignment of the spine
When i ask questions around in holland i get different answers. This confuses it more. Maybe people of this board can give some advice or knowledge about misalignments.
I really think that step 1 in the recovery is the crucial an magical step: Reject the physical en let the fear go.
Hope to hear from you

Posted - 08/07/2008 : 10:59:50 thanks for the reply baseball65,
I'am trying to stay focussed on my recovery and try not to be disturbed by the fear, anxiety, tms ghosts. It feels good to hear that asymmetrical things are just asymmetrical things. Not responsible for symptoms.
You are right about the dutch being open but i have not found 1 professional who fully rejects the physical. One must do this mostly on one's own.
Anyway wish you all the luck.

Posted - 08/07/2008 : 06:22:05 Hey Gezondheid (god bless you?)
You might want to peruse my rambling thread about my leg. It is swollen and twisted and stretched and ugly, but the pain went away anyways.
One of the things I 'remembered' while re-sarno-izing myself again , was that when recovering from my back pain, I have a HUGE tilt in my pelvis due to the fact that one of my legs is an inch and change longer than the other (and I've skateboarded for years and years which is an assymetrical workout)
I recovered from all of my TMS in spite of a lot of ugly x-rays and such. So will you. Plus, your in the netherlands where people aren't as close minded, so you have a distinct advantage!

Posted - 08/06/2008 : 04:52:56 Thanks ACL for your comment. What am i expecting? Exclusion of physical causes. I think you are right about belief. Nocebo's are hell raisers. Problem with me is that it is hard to find any psychological or psychosomatic help at all who doesn't bring you back on the physical path. Nobody excludes the physical. Anyway i'am still in step one wanting to get out of there.
Thanks again and i will continue the reconditioning.

Posted - 08/05/2008 : 14:16:40 'Imbalance' due to asymmetry is itself a concept rooted in the physical belief system.
If it helps, try thinking to yourself about the fact that everyone's body is somewhat uneven and asymmetrical. Many people's legs are slightly different lengths.
We adapt to the way our bodies work, just as we adapt to the demands that we put on our bodies by getting stronger.
When you notice yourself noticing your 'abnormal' feeling, think about TMS concept or emotions instead. You may find that noticing has become a habit and that if you stop paying attention, everything will feel fine...
