In addition to my cymbalta struggle, I forgot to mention that I have had a weird thing for about a month. Maybe a new TMS symptom after long period of no pain.

When I kneel, I get an unbelievable pain in one little area on the outside of my calf. I first thought I had been burned it felt so much like that. If I stay in a kneeling position it becomes numb. This is a new one for me! Every time I get up and try to kneel again, on the outside of the calf a stabbing, burning, very specific thing. Like a knife. Not like usual muscle or nerve pain. Anyone who has had this, let me know!

Probably iliotibial band syndrome (is it on the outer part of the knee as well?), which can also be a TMS equivalent, and a really painful one...

I have to add. If you wake up one day peeing blood, or fainting every day, or turning pale and choking....or something like those.

IT'S NOT TMS !!!!!!

I'm talking more Neuromuscular pain or nerve pain.

I don't understand. What other than nerves or muscles, would cause pain? What would be the 'something else' causing this?

It may be a new TYPE of pain to you, but it's still muscle and nerve pain. Which can most definitely be TMS.

And this symptom is not bizarre at all. It's actually standard TMS type pain. Why are you making it out to be something other than that in your head?

Let it go as being TMS(if you've been diagnosed as a TMS sufferer).Don't waste time fixating on symptom changes or "new pains". Doing so will give TMS the fuel to invent ANOTHER new pain and add on more symptoms. It's got your attention now by making you think ,"Oh nooo, a new feeling now I've never experienced, what does this mean? Does it mean that my body is degrading and falling apart as we speak? Oh nooooo!!!!!"

You get the point, lol.

TMS is an absolute SOB. Tomorrow you can wake up with your eye twitching for 24 hours straight. The next day you can wake up with your foot going numb. And the day after that, your teeth feeling like they have needles in them.

That's the whole point of TMS when it shifts, to make you think "Uh oh". And the "uh oh" is evident when people post topics about "new symptoms". I've done it, we all have done it, and it's a hoax.
Don't chase the TMS ghost or it will have you on a leash in a constant cycle of worry.

Hi Debby,

I haven't had exactly the same situation, but I did develop a pain that felt just like my skin had been burned. It was shortly after I'd started having numbness and tingling in my feet and legs. Suddenly one day, for no apparent reason (at least not a physical reason--there was emotional stuff going on), I felt like I'd put my ankle against a hot wood-stove or something. It came and went throughout the day, and after a few days I started having the same kind of pain, like a burn, on the top of my foot, then it moved farther up my leg. It was soon after that symptom began that I read Dr. Sarno's book and all the strange sensations stopped.

Another pain that stopped at the same time was a stabbing pain that I was getting in my right knee every time I squatted down for anything, like feeding the cat. Initially I thought it might be arthritis, but after I read the book it went away and never came back.
