Posted - 06/09/2008 : 10:44:29 As far as TMMS goes, I really don't have an 'issue' with it these days. It's bizarre not to be in pain after being a TMS poster boy for years. Thought I would just share the feeling. I still have sleep issues but they are even going away.
My therapist even told me that I should scale back my sessions. He thinks I "got it". Meaning that he thinks I understand TMS now. I think I do. At least where it comes from for me. I have to say that because everybody is different. Or are they???
It feels nice to not think of the pain. I even have control of it now if it comes up. Well not really, I don't 'control' it or try to anymore, and that's why it doesn't have the power.
SO I'm going to post my 'story' in the success story section soon. I'm waiting till I have a month under my belt, don't ask why. LOL
I'm not going to leave the board for fear of jinxing the whole thing. Superstitions like that give power to TMS in the first place. So I will still be around.

When you say that it's bizarre not to be in pain after so long, I can relate. I've been having pain-free days or chains of days and it's very weird at first (I was in constant pain for over a year before I discovered Sarno). I realize that I've gotten used to thinking about the pain. So it's weird when it becomes absent. And then I need to remind myself that the absence is a good thing (fill your mind with other good things instead, I tell myself!)
I think you hit the nail on the head when you say that you understand "where it comes from for you." I think that's the key. Everyone has their own "inner demons" so to speak; internal battles we must fight. Everyone's battle is different. TMS is your mind's way of saying "something is wrong and I'm going to get you to pay attention to it!"
I hope you can stick around here for a while and continue to offer insights and advice. I've found your posts very helpful!
I don't think you need to wait a month to consider yourself cured. Sounds to me like being cured is 99% just understanding the issues that cause your inner conflicts.
